  1. Make your retrieve as erratic as possible. Sometimes if the bite stops on them or is slow in the first place I will continuously jerk them a third of the way or more back to me and then let them sit for a second. Usually I will get bit as soon as I stop or restart my retrieve. If that doesn't work after a few tries I pick up my flippin stick. ;D
  2. sorry forgot to attach photos
  3. Just some new patterns on super spots. I actually messed up on the gills on some of them. I did them backwards(it was late). I also got lazy and didn't want to clean the airbrush for a 5 second red gill on the blue back. I know it looks like crap, but its for me anyway. I would never sell one that looked like that Dan
  4. I like the vinyl paint that is made by component systems for this particular kind of lure. It is honestly a little more forgiving against rocks and other debris because it gives a little. there are some drawbacks though. If you do a search you should find some other posts I've put on here. If you don't find them let me know. Dan
  5. I did see the Crankbait bodies over on TU and they do look nice. He actually has several different styles at a decent price. The Jann's bodies aren't bad they actually are pritty good for the money. They trim the flashing off a little roughly though and create a little more cleanup along the seem. At least on the LC knockoffs. You have to tweak them occasionally if the hook hanger or line tie is bent a little. Overall all though they are pretty nice. I was just looking for something a little different than what everyone else is painting on. Someday soon I hope to start casting my own. Just haven't had an opportunity to start that yet.
  6. Very Nice as usual!
  7. Just curious if anyone has ever had any luck with any of the crankbait manufacturers selling you some of their unpainted bodies. Or maybe you have had some luck with some of the Chinese makers. The ones that say they make them for other companies all seem to be the same ones Jann's and Stamina and the others have. There are a few different ones on Land O Tackle but most are just like the Jann's and Stamina ones. They won't respond back anyway. I'm not sure how to go about getting the ones from China. Just curious if anyone else has had any luck. Thanks, Dan
  8. I have fished out of a Sun Dolphin many time trolling for trout(boring but good eating). It is a good boat and very stable. For some reason though his seems to take on water. Not inside the boat but in between the hull and the interior. It doesn't seem to matter, it is full of foam after all, the weird thing is though we can't figure out how it is getting in. There is no crack in the hull and all the plugs are snug. But every time after we fish we can tip the boat up and water will pour out of the oar lock holes. The only other thing is it is kinda heavy. It is nearly impossibe to load by yourself were even a 14 foot aluminium jon boat is fairly easy to load. By the way since this thread went down this road, I've never understood weight ratings on boats. Almost all have a limit that seems rediculously small if not impossible. My buddies sun dolphin (whick may not be the same one as you are asking about) has us over the limit. But most boats have a weight limit or a person limit as if it means something different. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. Dan
  9. Thanks for the responses guys. I posted this question and then kinda forgot about it. I will probably do floors except for a small deck up front. I will try the tests you suggested first though to make sure. I figure I'll be comfortable but I'll have to test for sure. Thanks again.
  10. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, but I have a geat book called Knowing Bass. It goes over the different scents that people use for bass. Some of them like garlic and anise did'nt help at all. In fact some of them actually seemed to make the bass spit it out faster. If you can find some sort of earthworm extract oil (if it exists) or something like minnow oil they would probably work the best. I would also recommend buying the book it is awesome. It breaks through the hogwash and just tests the stuff. Dan
  11. do you have to use an oil based paint? Createx won't work or will it?
  12. very cool is it difficult. You know what I really want to ask. Alright I will. How's it done. I understand if its a secret. I've seen some similar things but not exactly like that. It's cool. do share. If you want :
  13. I have a 12 foot flat bottom jon boat and was wondering about putting decks in it. I'm worried about weight. Don't know if it is even a candidate for such a redo. any help would be appreciated. thanks
  14. this is so much fun
  15. the thing with these traps that seem to make them just a little more difficult (at least for me) is the concave sides. Instead of having a flat or slightly round side the super spots have an inward curve. Kinda hard for the stencilling. Not to mention there's nothing to hold on to. Thanks for the comments. You guys do it for real I'm just a pretender.Dan
  16. great review. that really helps in figuring out what to buy. thanks
  17. all that stuff is really sweet. Always like your paint jobs.
  18. just another super spot I recently finished
  19. I like your cranks. I haven't had a chance to really make my own I just paint unpainted ones or repaint old ones. How do you keep them uniform or do you just get them close? Can't wait to try it myself. You and others are so unselfish and I haven't had a chance to tell you how much I appreciate all your contributions on this site. :'( Sorry I got a little emotional. ;D No seriously thanks. Dan
  20. you're not planning a trip to salt fork are you lure guy? Ever catch any muskie over there. It's supposed to be a good spot. I'm down in Parkersburg and alot of guys go up there to catch one. Their mostly trollers though. I'd troll too if it meant a state record muskie. That lake has produced records before. Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack your thread I was just curious.
  21. fly vise. and then when I put them on the drying wheel I have gator clips that I plattened out the end that holds the wire and put a bunch of masking tape on the flattened end to give the clothes pin something to get a hold of. In all honesty the hardest part of painting lipless baits is holding them with something.
  22. I gotta tell you I wasn't sure about this paint job until I put the black on. It looked kinda funny until then. Glad you like it. Dan
  23. picked up some super spots marked down to do some repaints and this is the first one I've had a chance to finish.
  24. I got this link off of here I think. This is a better buy than Wal-Mart, but I honestly haven't used it because wmart is so convenient. www.texaswoodcarvers.com/tool_index.htm
