Does anybody know if its possible to throw a good long cast with like a 1/16 oz jig or even a 1/8 oz jig on a baitcaster without using any split shots or weights? And if you can, what brand and model baitcaster do you have?

The only way I can throw my 1/16 oz jig on my abu garcia ambassadeur baitcaster is if I put a split shot squeeze on weight a few inches about the jig head. Can the fish see the split shot and not take the bait or does it not matter?

I have a Abu Garcia ambassador black max baitcaster with a 6 foot rod and I am wondering how you cast overhead without it going into the ground a few feet in front of you. How is it that you get it to keep going a distance in the air? Any tips about release point? And would using a 14 lb test line instead of 10 lb test line make any difference in your casting ability (without nesting)? Thanks.

what are yalls opinions about using the ultra light 5 foot rods for bass fishing? have they worked well for you or badly from experience.

so whether the baitcaster is 1 bearing or 6 bearings it will still throw the same distance with a light lure?

I have a shakesphere baitcaster and I can cast a mile when I have on nothing but a heavy sinker weight, but if I put on a jig or crankbait I can only cast it a few feet in front of me. Could the reason be that my baitcaster is only 1 bearing instead of 6 bearings like most of the other baitcaster reels? Any suggestions?

Can anybody give me some bait ideas for fishing in the ocean. what kind of bait should i use when standing on shore (are there even big enough fish to catch from the shoreline on the beach) and what kind of bait to use while fishing off a pier. and just any other tips about fishing in the ocean/shoreline would be great. I know this is a bass forum, but if you fishing off the florida coast in the ocean,not deep sea fishing (just right off the shore or out in a small boat a little bit farther out), but what kind of bait would you use and is there any way to tell where the good spots are?
