New Rod And Reel, How Did I Do???
I've been looking at possibly getting a 7ft M Redbone for freshwater striper fishing. I normally only throw 3/8oz jigheaded flukes using 14lb mono. Will the M be a good fit or go with the ML? Don't have a store in my area to compare.

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth Rods. They Are Worth A Look.
Been planning to purchase one of these rods for river smallmouths, mostly for throwing 1/8oz jig headed grubs. Don't have any retailers in my area, going to have to order. Can anybody tell me how "light" the 6'9" ML is compared to say an Avid ML? Thanks for any help.

New Spinning Reel Question
Might be a stupid question, but I plan on getting into some canoe/wade fishing for Smallies this year. I just bought an Avid ML spinning rod but have a question on reels. I know first hand the reel will be dunked in the water a lot from the wading. Should I just use my Shimano Stradics or buy a cheaper reel just for this application, maybe a Sedona??? Thanks for any help.

Berkley Amp & Okuma C3 Rods
Getting back to the Berkley Amp rods, I bought one and I'm amazed at the $30 price. I stood in the store for 30 min comparing it to a Carrot Stick and it is a great bang for a buck rod! I suggest pick one up for a spare and give it a toss. This rod is the best $30 you'll ever spend...

Another rod question
Fairly new to the board, but need a rod suggestion. I will only be using this rod for one application, casting 3/8oz jig headed flukes using 14lb test for small freshwater stripers. Need something that will cast 3/8oz a country mile, but plenty of back to pull in 5-10lb stripers. I'm looking to spend in the $200 range. Thanks for any input, happy holidays!

Airuss or Sirrus Rods
I bought a Co-Matrix spinning rod for stripers on Smith Mountain Lake and I agree with both post. First, the rod will launch a jigheaded fluke and will pull in stripers..but...the hook holder sucked..I ended up cutting it off. Jeff Troutville, Va

All purpose Rod....?
Gloomis is an awesome rod..but...check out the Castaway HG-40 rods. These are the bomb! They mostly all are made with moderate action, perfect for you application.

What fishing line?
I've settled on 14lb original Stren or Cajun Red Cast on all my fishing duties. Stren for heavy cover and Red Cast for everything else.

Need a new Striper reel
Striper fishing is my main game so I can give some imput. I agree, a 4000 series Shimano is the way to go! In your price range, try to find last years FH Stradic. Killer reels for the money, I use these at night. I only use spinning at night, Casting reels during the day. Just me, but that's what works. For casting plugs, flukes and ect with spinning tackle check out the Castaway HG-40 Heavy Action Spinning Rod. This is the best heavy action spinning rod on the market!!! PS...they don't have it listed on the website. Tons of backbone but will launce a 3/8 jighead fluke a mile.

You can say what you want about Cajun Red Casting, I like it!
Red Cast is great line! I do a lot of light line casting for stripers at night and Red Cast 14lb works great on big 4000 series spinning reels. Actually it's the only line I've found not to twist and cast like a dream! I have caught many 12-14lb stripers with no problems using 14lb test. I hope it works as well on my casting equipment this spring!!

Stradic 2500 Dilemma?
It's possible I got a defective model. By the way..I'm all about Shimano! When I set the hook I always apply pressure back on the handle...just the way I do it. Handle kept coming loose.

Stradic 2500 Dilemma?
. The machined-aluminum handle with Septon handle grips has a direct-drive mechanism (threaded directly into the drive gear) to eliminate play and increase transmission of power. This handle sucks! It will come loose.

Rod for ROund Baitcaster
I'll throw in a curve ball here. Not sure what power/action you're looking for but for heavy power/moderate action you can't beat a Castaway HG-40 7ft heavy action/mod action.

Favorite Baitcaster
I love all my Shimanos Citica/Curados old and new....just bought a PFlueger Trion (wide spool) for Striper fishing....GREAT REEL FOR THE $$.

Daiwa ss tournament1300 question
I've got an old 1600 that's my main large bait/striper reel. Picked up a new model and seemed a little rough compared to mine. (cheaper made) If you can find one...the SS II with instant anti-reverse was the best Daiwa made in my opinion.
