  1. yea im from PA so the baits that work good here can work terrible over there just keep it simple natural colors and you will be able to figure it out and start making patterns based on your experiences
  2. well i use them sometimes for dropshotting if i want a really crazy action out of this rig i turn to these i use them straight on a jighead 1/8 ounce and have a really steady retrieve just a few feet above the bottom maybe stopping it once and a while hey most of the time the tail is still connected to the body of the bait just clip it off u will see but it is something u might forgot to do and u will be wondering why it isnt having any action
  3. I'm with burley on this one. Shorts and a solid pair of shoes works fine. yup old basketball shorts and some old shoes work great
  4. one of the lakes i fished had a proposal to do this but it fell through even though i hate it there are some benefits like pike can only kill small bass so it will higher the avaible food in a lake which can be eaten by bigger bass so the big bass in the lake will hit more often and more aggresive and they will become alot bigger the only reason the pike wasnt stock was because there was already pike and musky in the lake and i must say they dont seem to bother the bass too much they go after the trout in the lake that and its the best bass lake in this area actually compared to other lakes that doesnt have any pike or musky in it so i really dont know
  5. yes a trig targets the bottom while the DS targets about a foot to 2 feet off the bottom you can retrieve the trig alot faster than a dropshot what im trying to say is that a dropshot is mostly a vertical presentation which means u locate fish with a graph then just pitch the bait right off the side of the boat the trig u cast and retrieve it horizationally if thats a word
  6. hey welcome i use both soft baits alot more than hard but considering which one is basically all seasonally for example on rivers here the prespawn which is colder weather smallies are just coming out of hibernation and are very active and hungry i like to use a fast moving reaction bait like a jerkbait x raps are great and the old rebels are ok too. well then there is the spawn soft is teh only way to go if u can sight fish tubes and larger profile baits but when u cant see very well a carolina rig or fluke is a great bait to use i like crankbaits during the post spawn then summer really depends on the conditions then fall is mostly soft baits and jigs just wondering where u are from?
  7. just try to match the forage in the fishery that u plan on fishing white or pearl works well for me anywhere i go but in some rivers i fish for smallies a shad color works awesome then 2 miles away at a creek that holds smallies a natural creek chub color works great but the shad doesnt catch nothing so yea just try to make the natural forage of the lake river or stream u are fishing
  8. when i was younger and new to jigs i just put the hook straight through the middle of the bait and it worked great but i was doing it wrong while for a chunk start at the head or the small circuit at the front of the bait and insert the hook into it then just slide the trailer right on
  9. yea cool i need to get up there to buy a bunch of baits do u go up often? maybe we can meet up there and u can show me the rod
  10. i use 3 different jigs and thats about it the mop jig the bitsy bug and the boo or baby boo booyah jig
  11. i really really like them and use them all the time but never as a jig trailer i flip the 5inch ones but i normally fish them in the spawn great bait just put on a shakeyhead or football head and put them on a bed and boom i like the 3inch great river bait
  12. its an ok as an trailer i like it just on a 1/8 ounce jighead if there is alittle bit of grass a 1/8ounce jighead with a light weedguard if it is heavy cover i just use it on a jig
  13. nice yea the drop shot is kinda of a boring technique but works like a charm
  14. well then it takes 10 minutes to get it back out aaa well i need a verstiable rod i know that these two baits work at this one river yea i was thinking about a little bit shallower running glass rap and it would be ok but i think im goin to just get a new rod so i can use it for a bunch of different techinques and other gamefish but i really dont know of any good veristal rods so i will have to shop around hmm idk
  15. o ok yea when i used to do it the paint was just about totally off so i would just sand off the rest then just paint it normally just paint it a solid color with a black back or something nothing too detailed
  16. pearl white in most lakes but if there are blueback herring a blue color i like the ghost minnow for poppers and then a bull frog or yellow for those torpedo baits
  17. o wow big difference how did u do it? did u strip the old paint or just paint over top of it? i use to go and find old rapalas and that which had a been beaten up and then sand the lure off and then repaint but none of my paint jobs came out as good as yours just wondering how u did it
  18. lol yea i know hey what spinning rod would u use for practically any smallmouth crankbait? i know u have a rod just for this situation

  21. o cool do u have a pic or link to what the crank looked like before u painted it? im just astonished on the color there are so many bb colors but none look as natural as yours
  22. idk i want it too i try to download it on limewire but couldnt even find it so im just going to wait a few weeks
  23. i fish the potomac a few miles up stream for washington the tide is there but its not as servere as the tide down closer to the bay well i locate structure usally wood at variety of depths maybe in 2 foot 5 foot and 10 foot when i find it i will fish the structure at 2 foot or 5 foot when the tide is up then when its normal i will fish the 5 or 10 foot structure and then the 10 when the water level is really low take a half a day locating the structure with your graph before you ever throw a lure into the water
  24. yea dsaava i thought about 2 piece rods but it takes too long to break them down and wrap em up thanks hester i was going to go buy one thanks good thing im not now hmmm yea i try the balsa style to see how it works i think im going to buy a few in like a 6 foot diving hell i might even buy a new spinning rod just for this situation what do u guys think? i dont want an expensive rod just a simple spinning rod i can use any crankbait with im thinking like a 6'6 foot medium action reply im interseted in what u guys think of just a new rod
  25. yea i dont know if he will be able to pull it out that alton jones found some fish and discovered a pattern that if it carries over to day 3 i dont think anyone will be able to touch him hopefully hartley or kriet win it that would be sweet 2 big underdogs pull it out i like kriet big smallmouth angler
