  1. Lets all be honest here. I have lived in 3 states, nothing compares to out here in California. I don't care what state your in. You also don't have other states stocking a 1000 pounds of trout every week either. Not trying to start anything, but it is the fact.
  2. Those pinnacles reels are the same they make for Bass Pro.
  3. Possibly the worst line that I have ever tried.
  4. Soak it in hot water. http://www.mattlures.com/fishingtips.htm read the last paragraph.
  5. I have tried with 1/2 oz jig, with craw trailer. Various soft plastics that mimic something on the bottom. Tried running swimbaits over and stoping them on the back and front side, running them along side.
  6. In a lake I fish there is an area of some large boulders in about 8 to 9 feet of water. Some of these rocks come right up to the surface. I have tried fishing on them with out much success. I am able to fish in between the rocks and catch some little ones. My best guess would be that larger fish are holding on those rocks. Any help with techniques would be welcomed.
  7. If you get one that is designed for river fishing, its not going to tip over . All of Creek Company pontoons are rated for type II white water, other manufacturers have theirs rated and some have ones that are not rated. I believe all the ones that Colorado make are type I white water rated. I haven't had a problem with any wake from boats and with the wind around here don't want to get caught in the wind so I pay great attention to the weather forecast. Being so light, and sitting out of the water the wind does blow you around some. You can put trolling motors on them, but the handle type I don't know how you could get a peddle type to work correctly unless you put a deck on and then raised the seat up and put the peddle on the deck. 36 pound thrust motors work really well for them though. Most just have standard boat seats on them, so the bolt patterns are the same as risers and swivels for boats.
  8. Thats why I have my rod holder only on the left side. I cast with my right hand, the rods don't get in the way. They also won't fall out because they go in all the way to the reel. If they fall out I have a lot bigger problems then my rods. I am able to take everything I want. I know the depth of where I am fishing and can find the any structure. Thats a big key when summer rolls around.
  9. how about a pontoon? You still get some exercise, your able to hold more gear, and they are easier to fish from. this one is under your budget with free shipping. http://www.creekcompany.com/indivdisplay.php?primaryAutoID=6&Cat=Featured
  10. You will like tooning! I have been having a blast since I got mine in January. I pump mine up at home with an electric pump then finish filling it at the lake with a double action pump. For my toon it takes about a minute for each pontoon with the hand pump, half that with the electric. I don't have wheels on mine...yet. I think I am going to make something rather then purchase it. Cabelas sells two wheel kits, but I am not impressed.
  11. I did this on accident this past weekend. Guy was fishing off a point I was headed to, so I just went on the other side of the point and fished. Well I guess they were heading down that side. I usually like to keep my distance.
  12. Someone that likes Indian Lake wahoo!
  13. I used them for ice fishing and for saugeye and walleye fishing, but never bass. They do work for those three things, and I guess they work for bass too.

If you have a BPS master fishing catalog from 2007 they are on page 381. Or search for "rattle" at BPS website. I have always had to order them online. In fact, the BPS in the same town as I live doesn't carry them in stock.
  15. I know I new, been a lurker for years, but thought I would post some pictures of what I got and how I have it rigged up. Well i guess i can't post web addresses until i have 10 post. :-/ Is there a way to link or download photos rather then through photobucket?
  16. My technique might be a little different, but it works for ice fishing well. I use a pair of jersey gloves, heck they are cheap .99 a pair. I usually carry 3 or so pair with me. I buy the smallest size that possible fits my had so i can still hooks on and such. I then wear a pair of fold back mittens. That way even when its 0 degrees F out, my finger tips are nice and toasty. When the jersey gloves get wet, i trade them out for another pair.
  17. I am having a hard time deciding what toon I want. Here are my options, The Outcast fishcat streamer, CC classic, or the CC super sport. I like the Fishcat, but the classic is a great price. The things I don't like about the Classic are the type of oars and oar locks, the seat, and the fact that the pontoons have a fabric cover. I think the fabric covers will soak up water making it harder to row. I would need to some type of pully system for the it and a different seat. Again I like the price and they do have a lifetime warranty which is a big plus. On the fishcat, I like the fact I can put brass oar locks on it. It comes with a decent seat and has a pulley system and motor mount already on it. I don't need the motor mount now, but its nice to have. The ODC sport has everything the Fishcat has, except the fabric covers make me nervous again. To throw another one in the mix. I liked the looks of Bass Pro's white water paddlefish, but for the life of me can't figure out who makes them. It sure seems like the Fishcat frame with different pontoons and no motor mount. They are currently $299 with nice oars. HELP! haha I can't decide.
  18. When you take it to the welder, you make want to bring some sheet aluminum the same or close to the same thickness as the boat. It will probably be ok, but using patches on both sides or one side and then filling in the hole will probably work better. Aluminum is a ***** to tig weld, and now you know. Ands its even harder to oxy weld.
  19. The curado currently has a $50 rebate, I got mine in about a week and a half.
