  1. funny thing is CJ ive been tieing flies for about 8 or so years , just havent learned no better. lol yeh i sharted . Must run in the family huh jimzee. lol "run in the family". Lol yeh Burley
  2. All i know is that im not aloud to have any little red head kids come knocking on the door 10 years or so down the road. Thats the only limits my wife set for me.
  3. Tubes are still my hands down go to when i want to put fish in the boat. Id rather catch every smallmouth on top water, but for some reason they dont want to hit a buzzbait in 30 degree water here in WV.
  4. Man its a blast. The first tournament i fished was a Sportmart tournament called the Trail of Dreams. I think i slept 10 mintues the night before,i was so excited. I had a 84 Glassport w a 50 HP evinrude on the back, in "beautiful" Brown and tan glitter. lol It floated, that's what i liked about it. There were 50 some boats in the tournament, we 16th coming out. When they said 16, we took off, shortly after we could still hear 17, zoooooooooooooom, 18, zoooooooooooooooom, 19 zoooooooooooooooom, lol it was amusing. Neither me or my partner have ever fished the lake before, we caught around 30-40 fish, we weighed in 2. i have never seen that many 11" fish in my life. we ended up finishing 8th and out of the money, but it was definitely an awesome experience that i learned a lot from. I guess all i got to say is don't get caught up in fishing against the clock or others, just go out and fish the way you usually do as if its just another day of fishing.
  5. So i was doing a little remodeling last night in the ole "MAN CAVE". I moved my fly tying table to another side of the room. I forgot to mention i have the attention span of a 2 year old. Apparently the edge of my table was right over a vent in my house. so i sat down to tie a couple of "AJ Specials", Which consist of a lot of marabou. And as many of you know , marabou, can be moved by an ant fart. About 8 flies into it, i have accumulated a bit of a mess. This is about the time the temperature in my house has went below 64 degrees. At this time the heat kicks on. Feathers all in my eye, throat, and nostril. Looks like i got tea bagged by a chicken. I start to violently cough causing me to fart, thus ruining a pair of boxers(im not going to come out and say it,but you know i done.)In conclusion, pay attetion to what you are doing and clean up your messes as you go.
  6. I also think its both. Its hard to get confidence in a new bait. And when the bite is on it helps get that confidence in that bait.So you wont think twice to throw it when there shut down a bit.And if you get bit then, you know you got a winner IMO. Another way to tell is let Burley use it, if he catches anything over the 8" mark, you should be able to catch 100 over the 20" mark
  7. LC POINTER 100 LC POINTER 128 RAPALA X-RAP STRIKE KING Suspending models i will let sit on the pause up to 15-20 seconds before twitching in 30' water temp. After you get that first strike, just remember what you were doing and whether it was on the pause or the retrieve you got bit. Sounds simple i know, but sometimes i have a hard time remebering in all the excitement. I like fire tiger, clown color or any shad color are my favorites.
  8. I wasnt worried to much about the swelling , its the color changing that worried me
  9. Wow that made a lot more sense in my head. Looks like the ramblings of mad man. sorry about that
  10. Yeah you better recognize fool. my mom tells me I'm special all the time and she wouldn't lie. The campsites have electric hookups so thats a plus
  11. Would you say A blister on the throwing hand of an MLB pitcher affects his job more than a "turf toe" of nfl quaterback.
  12. He also gave me something. But due to moderators request, i cannot list. But the doctors said as long as i take my antibiotics i should be fine
  13. lol yeh thats a good one boss. i think i posted it a few months ago, but i still like it.
  14. That is actually one thing about the NFL that I like. I think that if you are going to err, you should err on the side of overprotection. But on the subject of erring... The officiating is terrible this year. My biggest gripe is with fumbles: too often a fumble is made, but the ruling on the field is incomplete pass (chargers/broncos) or that the runner was down by contact, meaning that the play was dead, so anything that happens after, like returning the fumble for a TD, is void. In my opinion, the call on the field should always be fumble, then go to the booth and review it after. If it actually was an incomplete pass or down by contact, you don't screw anybody. But if you whistle the play dead, you can't change that after review. And overtime has got to change to be more like college overtime. Nine times out of ten, basically it comes down to who wins the coin toss. Like in my Saints/Bears game earlier this year, the bears won the toss and got ball first. So the first play, they throw 50 yards downfield, get a spot-foul pass interference call on an (in my opinion) uncatchable pass, which puts them in field goal range. They then ran three plays, and didn't gain a single yard, but were able to kick a field goal and win, without the Saints offense ever getting a chance to play. Not fair. At all. I think it was extremely fair. But I'm a bears fan lol But as far as the OT, it is a joke. There should definitely be so reconstructing there. Commercials are ridiculous too. Don'T get me wrong, i love the Doritos girl as much as the next guy, i just cant stand a 3 hour program that can be shown in 2 hours.
  15. lol good point. It reminds me of Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, when he has the huge Fig Newton sticker on the windshield. "This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but i do love fig newtons."
  16. good thing is gman, at least for me, i have the rest of the week off. Plus supposed to be a lot warmer here in WV tomorrow too. I think some native trout or some walleye are gonna see a little action tomorrow
  17. IM right with ya Daniel. I actually had my pajama pants most of this morning. i was running late and just grab my clothes and went out the door. But i actually did talk to a couple of my customers today.
  18. lol i think we married the same woman
  19. Its everything. The challenge of the hunt. The calm of the water before the explosion of a predator searching for its prey. How something that is 1/50 my size can show so much brawn and determination to get away its unreal. The excitement every night before a trip or the morning of. Shooting the bull with your buddy about everything that y'all have been through. Its truly the greatest sport, greatest hobby, greatest time in my life. I truly ,madly , deeply love fishing.
  20. Cant go wrong with Big M cranks, the man does good work. I got a few but havent had a chance to use them yet.
  21. DT's, for the money are hands down the best crankbait. I'm not completely sold on the sure set hooks that are available on a few but as far as fish catchers , they always got a place in my box. I just hope rapala doesn't pull there usual crap and discontinue some of them. My favorite is a DT7 flat Bleeding Olive shad. Just something about that one here in WV.
