  1. You cannot get a loan until they apply. It doesn't matter that they won't qualify.
  2. I don't know if this would help, but I appreciate the added IPT of my CI4 reels when dealing with deep smallie fishing. Once they're hooked, they will sometimes swim right up to the boat faster than you can reel up slack. The faster reels help in this manner. Plus, it's quicker when you reset your drop or drift.
  3. What do you mean "your parents won't"? They have to.
  4. PGC66MMF and PGC70MMF are both glass rods. There are also moderate taper graphite cranking rods, which are denoted with a "PC" prefix, such as PC70MHM.
  5. If your going to fishing in sub freezing temps, then avoid micros.
  6. You have to consider inches per turn, or IPT. This is a function of gear ratio, and more importantly, spool diameter. In other words, your "fastest" spinner is likely a 4:1 8000 series saltwater reel, not a 6:1 2500 series reel.
  7. Sounds like you stumbled upon it's original intention. Makes a great jig and worm reel. If you are looking at finesse, the Sol is the reel you want. Also, a very light weight reel. You can modify a Fuego to be a light bait reel, but it's better to start with the right tool to begin with.
  8. He's using a Carrot Stix Cranking Stick, one of the lighter rods on the market, not a jigging rod.
  9. Nice tip. JJ's Methiolate (which I think is southern for "pink") does the same for yellow strands. You get a really brilliant orange.
  10. Those scavengers are often bigger fish. "Honey Badger, you do all the work, and we'll pick up the scraps. OK, stupid?"

I think BT is referring to the rake-rod, LOL.
  12. The Tierra isn't the smoothest reel in the world. It isn't the lightest. Probably won't cast baits the farthest. But it will last forever, LOL.
  13. OK, its an Al framed, dumbed down version of the Aggrest. Good thing you guys all watch out for the details, LOL. Look at it this way, whatever the Curado passed down to the Citica that makes it such a good a reel, wasn't bestowed upon the Exceler by the Aggrest. As such, that doesn't make the Aggrest crap. Most that make that statement NEVER used one.
  14. Gotta love it! I was harassed by some Cohos last week while bass fishing.

You could throw FOUR A-rigs on one of these:
  16. I would target the bigger fish, waiting at the bottom of the school. The one's chasing up top are usually the smaller fish.
  17. That's normal. You have four settings.
  18. That rumor is a bunch of rubbish promoted by reel snobs that don't know any better, and never tried it. I know a few guys around here throwing them, and no complaints after a year. It's Daiwa's "Curado price point" reel. The Aggrest was out long before the Exceler on the JDM, and was designed for light offshore duty. The Exceler is a graphite frame, cheaper, dumbed down version of the Aggrest. They even have "special" models that are popular over here, like PE braided special. It's a fine reel at it's price point. you should be able to find them well below retail, making them an even better value.
  19. This time of year, it's usually not a problem to come up with a 50 perch limit, but they do take some finesse-ful teasing. Up here, we sight fish them on a flasher or graph vertically with a drop shot. I use little Gulp! minnows and worms on a #8 hook. Adjust weight to the wind. Nice looking bait, Skeeterman. I'd like to see a couple threads of green and orange in my perch pattern baits.
  20. Longer rod and two handed casts. If it's pulling back too hard when you're reeling in, you're reeling in too fast.
  21. I'd get an extra spool, and use both. In fact, I used to do that before getting into kayaks, and boats. I carried a spinner and a caster, and had a couple of spools for each.
  22. Yellow for low light.
  23. From a few years ago, with permission from LBH:
  24. I have 23 combos in regular use. Three or four of them have braid. I'd say, having a heavy rod with braid for frogs, t-rigs and jigs would be very useful for anyone that fishes heavy weeds.
  25. In heavy cover, I tie direct. I sometimes marker up the last couple feet. What I like better is to swipe 1/2 the spool with a maker. Gives you a very visible alternating pattern on the line.
