  1. That's a great start! That pike looks chunky, did you weigh her? Looks every bit of 12 lbs.
  2. OK, I must be getting forgetful,or just plain lazy about these..... Port Bay!!!!! Despite recent moaning about cyanobacter algae killing all the fish in the bays, fishing seems just fine. Results First: We had a tie! Mitch and Gary fished creatures to bring in a bag with seemingly identically sized fish for 13-9. Bill and George brought in another 13-9 bag anchored by a 3-10 lunker contender. Word is George learned something about jigs that day. Third: Jim "Brutus" Donley and Jason nailed 11-8 worth of largemouth anchored by a 4-5 fish that took lunker. I hear home poured creatures and black cull tags were the baits to have. I don't normally include 4th, but Web and I took fourth on frogs and rats. We caught about 1/10th of our bites, and I even watched one grab mine, take it under, and shake it, while never eating it. So frustrating. "Live and die by the frog bite," lol. Final results: Some pics: Starting to feed, but not fat yet! Bill, with some beauts. Web,with a nice frog fish. Felix didn't catch this fish, LOL. Mitch did catch these. Brutus showing the disparity in his....oh, never mind. I have never seen Perry smile. Brutus said he pushed back a bit. The Usual Suspects. Who is Kaiser Sosa? My day? Outside of not putting any bass in the well, and a freaking cull tag blunder, it was great. We had a ton of blow ups, caught a good deal of fish, but fell short. Web missed a monster that we both saw, and I missed several game changers. I love a shallow slop bite, and realize its a heart breaker. Never had so many misses, though. Went back to noon pond, stuck five frog fish in a row, in 35 minutes. Go figure. This Sunday.....the FCS finale.....CONESUS!!! Again!!!!! Woo Hoo!
  3. Give me a heads up, if you do a WPA/Erie Trib run.
  4. Don't know what Dwight is doing, but I start at 60#. Go over 80#, and the strength is overshadowed by the negative effect on the action. Need more, go to titanium. The stuff is pricey, but really thin, flexible, and durable. Don't overlook the Bucher short wire jerkbait leaders. Some guys make them, but they're so cheap, I just buy a bunch.
  5. We chatted for about 45 minutes tonight. He's doing well, and wishes all his old BR friends well. He's been hard at work with his charities.
  6. Hard Swimbaits. 2-6 oz. size.
  7. Muddy (Dominic) is a colorful guy that used to post here. For anyone that cares, I usually talk to him once a month or so. In fact, just left him a message.
  8. What knock? Plenty of people use copolymer lines. Many probably don't even realize it.
  9. Take your drum and beat it.
  10. I concur. I'll add in Cortland Toothy Critter for jigging and t-rigging for pike.
  11. Nate, you need to get a pin, and fish with meatballs....so easy, a little kid can do it!
  12. This fish, caught by my friend Tina on a fly. Tina ties her own, and her results are amazing. She's pretty much dedicated to the fly, though throws a frog when the time is right.
  13. Monday will be dink trout day:
  14. In some cases, a deep V is a better option. I fished for bass for years out of a 17' Sea Nymph tiller. Most of my fishing was on Lake Ontario. Many times, I'd see guys heading in, while I was headed out. just realize, wind will not always be your friend.
  15. You're on aggressive fish. Like others said, you just have to close the deal. When this happens, I go to something they cannot get a good look at. Chatterbait, spinnerbait, lipless crank, even a fluke, worked frantically at the surface. If that doesn't work, do the opposite. Have your partner toss a senko right at the followers. Above all, if the fish are good size, and showing any signs of interest, work that spot. Think hard about other spots on the lake that are similar. Fish those areas as well.
  16. You bought one the best bang for the buck rods out there. Not inexpensive, but not over the top. Great rods, I own 7 or 8 of them.
  17. Nice C6 with poseur ZR6 add-ons. Ruined it, if you ask me.
  18. Split rigs foul up, and a duo lock snap allows you to use a stronger palomar knot.
  19. Bronze and chrome!!!!!!!!!
  20. $30 in Purdy paint brushes, mineral spirits, and $10 masking tape. All that to apply $15 worth of paint to my porch. :
  21. Take it back. Its defective. I have Pointers that have caught so many fish, they're almost clear.

Too thin to t-rig? Just get a smaller hook. Just match the hook to the bait. They make these down to #2. A 2/0 will be fine for a Trick Worm.
