  1. ...You're doing it wrong  After a day of banging rock piles for smallies, your baits will look like this: But you'll end up with a ton of these: And maybe even a few of these: Basically spent the day throwing two baits, the Aruku in water 4-6' deep, and the Jr. in shallower water. Aruku Shad work well for this, the faster you reel them in, the lower the head of the bait runs, giving better deflection off rocks, which triggered strikes. I basically fished choice rock piles rising out of water 8' deep or more. Nothing huge, many in the 2-3 lb. class, with some dinks, 'eyes, and googly thrown in. Despite the chill in the air, a fun, short afternoon trip.
  2. Print this link: http://fish.shimano.com/media/fishing/SAC/techdocs/en/Low_Profile/09CI200E_v1_m56577569830654409.pdf Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove part #2119, and then remove #3944. Use a nut driver - I believe its 11mm, and tighten part #2117. You want the nut to align so that either the corners point exactly to the knobs, or so that the flat sides align. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THIS NUT!!! You'll crush the collar on the brass crank shaft, and never be able remove the gear and drag stack. Once you have that, replace part #3944 and then #2119. If you have some Loctite Blue threadlock, you can use a drop on #2119, otherwise just snug it, or you'll crack #3944. If that fails, I'd call Shimano, explain the issue, or send it to a pro.
  3. That is awesome, LOL. Great gift! Your son has a good sense of humor.
  4. Saw the article. Unfortunately, my copy has been red flagged.
  5. Almoat all the fish I catch from tannin stained water look this way in spring. I think its from spending the winter under snow and ice - no sunlight. Later, they darken up. Some more than others.
  6. It isn't an albino, and it doesn't look that unusual to me. Yeah, its light. Could also be the exposure of the image.
  7. Must have been a b!tch to hook that out of the ice machine.
  8. I have four yellow boats....never had an issue with bees. Sounds like you were near a hive. : OP, your going to be looking at used in that price range. You'll find a lot more boat, and more rigging in that range.
  9. A lot of guys down there equate kayak fishing to river fishing. I don't fish any rivers up here with a kayak. Most of my boats suck in current, anyway.
  10. In fact, my buddy Wade has this to welcome any new VA people, LOL.
  11. The site owner is from VA, and for whatever reason, there are a lot of FW kayakers in VA. Up here, you say "kayak fishing," and 99% that know what you're talking about will be coastal anglers.
  12. Goop or Lexel. Watch out for bubbles.
  13. I wish I could go, unfortunately, I have other engagements: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1272502647/0#0.
  14. Details are here.
  15. Peanut butter?
  16. By "tubes," he means hollow belly.
  17. The Gander near me won't do in store exchanges. In fact, when I was looking at some different St. Croix models, the manager yelled across the aisle, "You know you can't return them here if you buy it. I don't recommend them at all!" I laughed MAO at him, and said that's fine, their customer service was better than his.
  18. She's FAT! I'd say around 12 lbs. Next time get a girth. Unless you have some sort of cradle or other weighing setup, I'd caution against getting a weight. Leng and girth measurements alone will tell the story to other avid Esox hunters. Very nice catch!
  19. I'll be holding two free kayak fishing seminars at Bay Creek Paddling Center, May 1st at 10 AM and May 2nd at 1 PM. Anyone local is welcome to join, and in fact, a few "ringers"in the audience would be great. This place is a great setting, and a great place to get started. Pike season starts Saturday, and I happen to know there are plenty of them in the creek that are post spawn, and very hungry.
  20. Hand strip, learn to cast with a lighter spool tension, use a spinning reel.
  21. I use lefty TD-X103HSDL. The spool release is on the top, allowing you to palm the reel. As with most recent Daiwas, you can manually flip the thumbar or switch back, in this case without going to the handles to engage the spool. Front row, right:
  22. You sure get some pretty models!
  23. Its only 100 acres, seems like you cover most of the pond in a day. I'd be looking at flats areas adjacent to point.
  24. Probably not, but they might be able to refer 7you to someone that does.
