Now these are jigs
These are football jigs, and I prefer the line tie at 90 degrees, to protect the knot. I'd have to see the skirts in the water, but 40ish is usually enough for me. I'd definitely lose the weedguard. Lacking that, the wide gap hooks work well with the 90 line tie.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
Restocked on vibration baits.

Huge and slow. "Here girl....you can get it!...."

fish grippers and lippers
The grip keeps your hands away from trebles, especially useful for smallies. I sometimes net the fish, and use the grip to immobilize the fish. Allows for a QUICKER RELEASE, which I feel trumps all these other silly lip concerns.

pickeral bites?
Sissy! Some of that blood was mine - was unprepared for pike. One of these will solve your problems, as will unhooking them in the water, boat side:

fish grippers and lippers
I'm still trying to figure out how all these guys saying not to lip a fish get the freaking hooks out. Someone post a video of this, please. Otherwise, you're blowing smoke.

Another crank rod question
Here's my list, pay more attention to power/action than actual models. St. Croix: AVC70MM for most smaller, shallow divers AVC70MHM for larger baits, and lipless in rocky cover LTB70MF for lipless in grass

Realy bad taxidermy!

Cheap Tackle
Prowl the ditches around here for chromers with a 13' centrepin rig, and it becomes second nature.

A new phenomenon for 2010...
Bugs me because it diminishes the accomplishments of truly decent anglers.

Seems easier just to be a little more careful with your gear, irrespective of price.

Picking a reel for flippin/picthin
That isn't drag, that's pure lockdown, LOL. In my experience, this number doesn't hold up throughout the life of the reel. I've never gotten more than about 13 lbs. on a used Revo. Can't imaging ever needing more than 10. Hook a scale to a fixed object, and set the drag for 5 lbs. by easing into a tight drag and using a straight pull. You'd be surprised to find how much power that is. It will only take about 6-7 lbs. to break most flipping sticks in half. I've got a reel on the bench right now with a shattered, yes shattered, anti reverse bearing sleeve. The drag held up, the sleeve did not.

Ceramic line guide vs. Titanium line guide on baitcast reel
my mistake, it does state "lineguide" :-[ Roger No harm, man. Reel makers use the same nomenclature. At least Daiwa elaborates, and calls it a "line guide pawl holder." So technical ;D

Do not buy a scale!
A good scale will ruin a great run of trophy fishing! But seriously, when that scale reads 7-2, you will poop yourself. I speak from experience, LOL.

Ceramic line guide vs. Titanium line guide on baitcast reel
He talking about the insert in the line carriage on the reel, not the rod. Probably makes no measurable difference.

In Need Of Help
Yes, and AFAIK no.

In Need Of Help
There is a tab on the front clip covering the line carriage that holds that rod in place. It probably broke. I'd contact Pure Fishing for parts, or have a pro do the repair.

Skipping baits
Some guys like sorter whippy rods, I prefer a longer, stout rod, both for tip velocity and muscling fish from under docks. One setup for baicasters that works for me is zero brakes and a lot of spool tension.

Am I the only angler here who uses ONLY spinning gear?
I recently serviced Shimano Spheros 8000 and 16000 series reels. I can assure you, they aren't sissy reels, LOL.

Your Tackle "System"
All goes into a Flambeau AZ8 or milk crate. I also have two more FTO bads for plastics.
