  1. It's pretty much the same as any USDM spinning reel from Shimano. You should be able to find one on the Shimano USA site.
  2. I see. I had a feeling that was it. Wrong tool. Thanks.
  3. What about deep water would prevent a reel from working?
  4. It predates that by a decade or more and doesn't have all the useless additions. Slim and trim and gets through vegetation with less weight.
  5. Try cursering over to something you see in the SI and mark a way point. Then use the GPS to navigate strait to it. This will give you feel of how far behind you it is, which is really not much at all, unless your chart speed is too slow. All sonar has worked like this for decades - it's not unique to a kayak. Only in the past few years has there been forward viewing sonar. At any rate, if you see something on the SI on your port side, it's a couple pedals and a left turn to cast to it. If I see something on the DI, I usually pedal way past it and approach from a distance. That's why being able to drop way points is important. The other method is trolling. You see it on the graph, and you get ready for a bite in a minute.
  6. Do you know what a 20 year old new in the box TD-Ito flipping reel goes for? Lulz.
  7. It isn't fair that it's only casting gear. I WANT ALL THE REELS!!! I'd like a few NIB TD-Ito HSDL Flipping reels, and pile of OG purple Alphas. That's the Daiwa, then from Shimano a bunch of the Chronarch E in 50 and 200 sizes and lots of ratios. NIB for everything. Spinning, whatever light reel Shimano is hawking right now. I'd need six or seven of them. Somehow I'd like to clone my 30 year old Zebco 33 so I could have more than one guest reel. That one works so well I sometimes use it. Lastly, I'll take a Kingpin Zeppelin center pin. Green and Black please.
  8. I use a small oval for the sinker to main ring. It's just big enough for the sinker and main split ring. You could, but it will catch more weeds, which is why I went to the little oval.
  9. Ditto. Mike at DVT can get it working. http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  10. The Jika rig has all but replaced traditional Texas rigs for the past 5 years or so. It works that well, especially in the EU milfoil we have up here.
  11. Another reminder: this thread is for PHOTOGRAPHS. MEMES go in the meme thread.
  12. You don't look T shaped.
  13. Looks fine, maybe hold it a little bit lower.
  14. It's official!
  15. I'd say that after around 2 months, either parent should be able to take off for a few hours to pursue a hobby or have some social time without being encumbered with a newborn. I'd call it a minimum target, for both parents. Putting a hobby like fishing on hold for a decade for parenting isn't healthy. It's even more important for the mother to get some time away as well. It sounds counter intuitive, but being away builds trust in your partner, the baby, and as a bonus, spending time alone with the baby builds a better bond. It works both ways.
  16. Milk protein allergies are what I was dealing with for my two oldest.
  17. It's not really a feeling. No one used those for bass fishing. I've serviced a great many surfcast reels for customers on Long Island. Totally inappropriate for bass fishing. If you need to use line that is greater then 8# size, use casting gear. I had a few customers that had physical restrictions that had to use spinning gear for heavy cover applications, but they typically used braid in the 40-50# range on 5000 sized reels saddled to medium to MH inshore rods. Speaking of, how you liking Gold in higher strengths? I've only used in 6 and 8# and it seems to perform as well as Blue.
  18. I wouldn't try anything north of 8# size line on ANY spinning rig without resorting to cheating.
  19. No one laughs when you pocket their entry fees.
  20. Ugh. Food allergies are an added angle with kids I have dealt with and it's a total pain.
  21. Use artificial crab - I think it's just pollack.
  22. Most kayak tournaments exclude canoes for some reason. If Blue was closer I'd let him take my Commander for it, since it's more like a canoe than a kayak.
  23. Someone somewhere knows how to cook that thing up.
  24. Unless they're toasted, I'd be hard pressed to try an upgrade. Either strip the reel down yourself, flush the bearings and rebuild, or have Mike do it. He makes a good sauce.
