as far as i know, bluegill and perch. they pump water into it from a river so might be shad and whatever else swims in the river lol. the list of fish that are in there are: walleye, bluegill, channel cats, white bass, perch, bullhead and smallies and supposedly largemouth, even though ive never heard of or seen anyone catch one. i honestly dont think there is any vegetation there. used to have some on that 10ft hump but sprayed it and havent seen any since. ill have to check it out last time i go. thanks for all the help guys, plannin on catchin some smallies this year!! aaron So, sounds ideal for crayfish. I've been accused of this, but it isn't really the same thing. Whenever I come across something new to me, I need to "kick" it around for a awhile. I'm not arguing with the person, I'm arguing with the idea, wrestling it over to get a better understanding. I do know a few people that seem to get simple pleasure through constant contradiction, no matter whether they are right or wrong. I tend to avoid them.

Actually, bass are native to Eastern North America, but have been introduced to the West, just as the Salmonoids from the West have been transplanted here.

My club fishes a random draw/team format. No BASS or FLW affilation. Non boater gets equal input to areas to fish, but control of the boat isn't mandatory. It depends on the size of the boat, and the boater. If we're working pitching jigs in a slop fest and the boat is 18+ feet, most of the time both anglers will be on the front deck. Thanks fish, but I don't think its too outside the box. Knowing the forage be a big part of uncracking new water. I'd also like to see a satellite image of the lake, and determine where vegetation is likely to be abundant, and what species are there. Its Ohio, so I assume the usual milfoil, coontail, and eel grass are there. One thing to note: I'd be REAL careful about posting maps with location and names on the internet. Spot burning is a very real issue.

I personally think most of ours come from the fish truck too. Just that they have access to the big lake to spend some time getting huge on pelagic baitfish. Since the state decided to spend over $1M on a freaking fin clipping machine (as public launch sites sit in decrepit state) we'll soon be able to confirm what I've suspected all along. That there might not be as much successful reproduction as we thought.

Never even thought about LMB. As far as a lack of structure, it there - its always there. You need to "think big" and consider current as it relates to baitfish movement. Not easy to do, unless you simply stumble upon the baitfish - my usual method . My only tip is to fish your bait on the perimeter of the bait ball, not smack in the middle.A dropshot rig can be used as well here, and you can use it suspended off the bottom. Just be really subtle with your presentation.

G. Loomis is a much higher profile in the trout/salmon/fly world.

I usually leave them alone, unless I'm on the water and the skirt I'm using gets funky or I want to mess with the bulk. Its important to note, I use some pretty high end jigs, and trimming isn't usually necessary.

He's talking about getting a d series reel, but gear ratio would be a non factor between the E5 and E7. The only difference is the gearset, which is disengaged during the cast.

This sounds like "plunking" for trout. Basically a tight line rig with bead, swivel, adn spinner. The spinner is called a "spin-n-glow." Look up Bill Herzog, and you'll see the rig in detail. One of the weirdest things I've seen is walleye anglers dragging chains. Presumably, the tactic kicks up all kinds of critters, which draws the baitfish to the area, which in turn draws the 'eyes. Kind of like chumming, but without chum. The weirdest thing I do is prefish for tournaments without hooks. Crankbaits are the most fun, since you can "play" them all the way to the boat, if you're real careful.

Why stop at red?

Tell your friend to knock $5 off for the tip replacement, and buy it if you like the rod. It's a 10 minute fix.

That isn't true at all. It depends on so many variables that the buyer isn't aware of, even more if the boat is used. I had a dealer drop the price of a brand new boat $1000 every time I got up out of the chair to leave. I simply wanted the price of the boat. By the time we were through, he dropped the price by $7K. Other times, the price on the sticker was what you were going to pay. As far as choosing a dealer, its much like buying a car, they all have a good deal on a boat. Look to the reputation of their service department, as you will be using it - it is a boat after all.

I can't see them being very useful for bass fishing, unless you're trolling. They do work well when trolling.

Define "wrong." Maybe on some small waters, it affects the overall spawn, but I doubt it, even then. The big females don't stick around too long after the deed. Its the males that defend the area. Personally, its just as much fun to fish a little deeper for the fish that won't be lucky enough to actually spawn. But there is a certain water that I hit frequently so that I hit the spawn. Seems to me, anglers have been bed fishing for eternity, and there still lots of bass out there.

I'm not sure what's spooled up on the pro's reels, but I do see quite a few Trilene and Basspro patches. Bass Pro Shoppes XPS Fluorocarbon is better than average line.

Sometimes you get lucky on those handles, that is why I asked if they had rivets. Vientos are all riveted except for a very few. I got lucky and got one that had screws. I worked on a SOL that had screws. I was ticked. Mine have rivets. :'(
