  1. In theory, it should keep the pinion in better alignment, and more accurate clutch engagement/disengagement. It remains to be seen. There are 30 year old Curado Bantams in use by tournament pros that have NO BEARING to support the pinion. It rides on the spool shaft. No, the pinion rides on the spool shaft. The yoke pushes the pinion up the spool shaft when depressing the thumb bar. A bearing supported pinion should also influence less wear on the shaft when releasing the spool, but I don't think I ever ran across a worn out spool shaft either. All that said, there's no denying smoothness of Daiwa's set up, or what SHimano calls X-ship.
  2. Out of curiosity, how many consider sun angle before color when fishing clear lakes?
  3. Very true. I would not spend one cent on a home gym or gym membership, but I have no problem paying in flesh at the skate park. Pretty sure the net gain is the same for my own expectations. I don't think the skate park alone would meet yours. It keeps me in shape, and it's fun for me. Just gotta figure out how to mount 8' Talons to my deck to keep me upright.
  4. Do you recommend Talons or Power Poles with that unit?
  5. I look at it this way: if you don't have a color, and someone else does, then you are missing sales. Some angler is going to buy another brand, even though they might like your bait, because you don't have "their color." GYCB seems to fall in this category. They have a billion colors. I only carry 2-3 colors of senkos, and I might buy another brand if they had smoke purple flake, and GYCB did not.
  6. This is how you fish a senko in 20'+ of water. Not every time. And really, who cares? Untangling and retying after catching is better than fishing without a bite any day.
  7. They typically occupy clearer waters, so it's a fair point.
  8. I always felt a pinion bearing helped preserve the spool shaft it rode on more than helped with gear alignment.
  9. My motivation is envy, lol
  10. When we go out to eat, after everyone is done, we do the plate rotation, and the human dumpster takes over.
  11. I rarely add salt to my food. Most of it comes with the salted butter, if that's in the recipe.
  12. I wish him a speedy recovery. It's been almost 8 years since my little CV event. The changes aren't all that hard. It's juts a mindset.
  13. Florida has a pretty robust fish farming industry that includes both food and tropical fish farming, as well supplying the scientific community. Ekk-Will is one of the largest facilities. You might start there. I'm thinking that this would be more lucrative than native species, but you might be able to pply it to native species. Juat not many people farming what naturally occurs without much human intervention. Now, pond/lake management is another story. You can pursue a degree in fisheries biology/management at many universities. This would be a prerequisite for any kind of venture of this sort. 14. I ate a burrito the size of a throw pillow yesterday for lunch. It had avocado in it, so I'm sure that was healthy choice.
  15. We catch and release LMB, SMB, and northern pike quite a bit through the ice. They release just fine. Walleye and stud bluegills go ni the bucket, though.
  16. I only own the Booyah baits, since I sold off the the Xcaliburs, and the Booyahs get bit as well.
  17. Testament to how good Wilson really is. How long do you think he can keep going with the mobile QB thing?
  18. You'll laugh, but there are some smaller, lingering issues from this, affectionately call "Y2K20" lol.

  20. They are a licenser, not a manu, so for my money, they're out. Not saying they aren't great reels, just not for me.
  21. Not really. Just find the Daiwa or Shimano that fits your hand nice. Have Mike drop Carbontex drags in them
  22. I love how our scales become more accurate when we don't land them. Reminds me of one I lost - a brown trout. My PB brown is 22 lbs. I was fishing a pod of browns making a push upstream to spawn. There was one HUGE hen in the mix. On a drift, I got bit and that monster rolled. I panicked, locked down on the centrepin reel (your fingers are the drag, look it up) and with one flick of it's tail, my leader was toast. This fish was bigger than my PB by a noticeable amount.
  23. Well, they're Quantums, so they need the work!
