  1. Looks like the OMC shifter/throttle on our old ski boat. You pulled it out, away from the hull at the base, to rev in neutral.
  2. My friend had one. It wasn't a speed demon, but it got up on plane, and the layout was well sorted. It was impressive for a budget minded, glass boat.
  3. The original post is asking how to locate beds. (See question quoted above) Let's stay on topic, please. Every year, during the spawn, these threads come up, and the replies become littered with debate on whether or not it's right to fish bedding bass. It's like asking which Daiwa reel to buy, and being told to try Shimano. If you'd like to explore the topic of ethics and morality of bed fishing, or share research, start your own topic. The previous comments can stay, but any new comments that do not relate to the OP will be removed. Thanks!
  4. Shhhhh! The internet is listening, lol.
  5. It's all the rage in my FB feed.... It's one of those, "I guess so" products. People that have them, love them. Reminds me of another weird one:
  6. What's even weirder, it's not the only one of it's type. Apparently, the idea is not that unique!
  7. They haven't faded away. Any custom builds I have made are always spiral wrapped. You use less guides, and keep the line off the blank.
  8. I like the LTB line from Saint Croix - one of my favorite lines of rods. If you're looking to spend a little less, I really like my Mat Daddy from Okuma. It has a couple features that you'd appreciate when truly flipping. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/mat-daddy-helios-review.html
  9. That sounds more like it with that prop. Enjoy!
  10. $1500. Doesn't come with a seat. 125 lbs. without seat and rigging. Not much storage - especially for rods. Need a battery(ies) and trolling motor, which will require registration in many states. Spins in the wind. Requires a pickup, cargo carrier, or trailer. Seems to me the design presents more problems and challenges than it solves. I'll take my kayak over that any day for small boat fishing.
  11. You can rig any just about soft plastic bait on a weedless hook without any weight.
  12. @jimf in the upper right, beige banner is a "Sort By" drop down. Be sure "Recently updated" is checked. Sounds like you have them sorted oldest first.
  13. Perfect. That's the type of place you want to look for more of.
  14. I use the one that has the paint worn off.
  15. Yes. Prove it to yourself by loosening the drag altogether, and duplicating the "issue."
  16. 11 mins. 9 mins. for al dente.
  17. I don't know. Is it protected? Or does it get blasted by waves and wind? What about boat traffic? I tend to find quantities of beds in larger areas, though old cribs, docks, brush piles, submerged timber are good attractors.
  18. Good answer, because around here, most stuff less than 12' has a limited window of use. Location, location, location....
  19. When I think of agonizing over what direction the hook on any rig is, I have to wonder why it makes any difference. You have no idea how that bait gets sucked in their mouth, and no idea what direction the hook will be oriented when set the hook. I'll hypothesize that many times the hook is in a weird spot, the hook set was late. So, for me the one ring with the hook side ways doesn't bother me a bit. I mean, I don't Texas rig a craw or curly tail worm side ways...
  20. Generally, as visibility decreases, so does the depth that fish bed. Look for well protected flats adjacent to deep water.
  21. I have many cranks, in many depth ranges. I generally know about how deep they run, but really, If The crank is either digging too hard, or not hitting bottom (or cover, if snapping off weeds), I change the lure to a different depth. I don't separate them by depth, but what I rod I use to to throw them, so it's more of a size/mass thing. So, my advice would be to get an assortment from deep to shallow. Find the one that runs right at that specific spot. This will be more important than any action, profile, color pattern. Get that bait in the zone first - that's probably 75% or more of getting on a crankbait bite.
  22. Catching has nothing to do with fishing, LMAO.
  23. Sounds like solid bass fishing. If you aren't getting hung up, you're doing it wrong!
