Got to hang out with my hero.
I saw the pic on FB. That's really cool!

Chatterbait freedom
You need to use the same tackle and hook set you'd use for a Texas rigged bait. a MH power and X-fast taper is your best bet.

Bait fish in Shallow Creeks?
Looks like a spawning run.

Wide roomy yak?
Check one out in person. It's alright, not the same quality as some leaders in the industry.

Fishing SUP
If you can stand on a dock, you can stand on a SUP.

Gut Feeling
Absolutely, though I have a feeling the body of knowledge I've acquired (admittedly not that much, lol) over the years contributes. Some things just look "fishy."

Cheap Tungsten?
Nobody "pours" tungsten. Tungsten carbide powder is compressed at great pressure to form the weights. It's not something you can do at home. In fact, I think there just a few factories in Asia that do this.

Spoonplugging by Buck Perry
It's definitely still relevant today.

Xpress H18 Performance
I had a 22p Laser II on my H18 with a 115 ELPTO Merc. Fully loaded, around 50 mph. No load, low fuel, 55.

all purpose line
Generally, I recommend P-Line CXX in 10-12# size. I'm currently testing Seaguar Rippin' Mono. So far so good.

Fishing SUP
I've fished off a SUP. The main issue was balance for casting, and where to put the paddle. This solves both problems. It does not solve the issue of my dog constantly jumping off, and scaring the fish. BTW, the SUP was great for getting up creeks, and a ton of fun with a big brown trout or northern pike on. The things are really overtaking kayaks in numbers in the creeks, streams, and backwaters around me. I still prefer a kayak for these creeks, but this just looked interesting.

Wide roomy yak?
Many of the wider spec boats aren't actually roomier inside, so make sure you get some seat time. I have a Commander 140, and even though it's not the widest spec, it's got a ton of room. Conversely, the Coosa I have measures wide, but doesn't fish wide. The Hobie PA 14 is probably one of the nicest as far as storage, and not feeling like you're surrounded by gear. I know I'm looking forward to some major seat time in a PA this summer.

Pitching Rod Length
I pitch with any rod I own, including spinning. For a beginner, a bit longer rod helps, something in the neighborhood of 7'. But really, it's more about learning the feel of it. In that video I posted on your other thread, I was using a 6-10.

Fishing SUP
Would you fish off a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard)? What if it has Mirage Drive that you "pedal" instead of "paddle"? Check this out: http://www.hobiecat.com/boards/mirage-eclipse/

Jerkbait rod casting or spinning?
Anything Pointer 100 or better, casting. The smaller ones, and soft jerks, like flukes, I use spinning.
-
Line Counting Reels
I really don't know about that. All my trolling stuff is ancient Penn and Daiwa reels on Fenwick trolling rods. I don't use it it all anymore.
-
Line Counting Reels
Moving this to the Other Species category, since it's about walleye. My experience with trolling is that lure weight - so long as it's reasonably close - is not nearly as important than if you're trying to cast a bait. In other words, it will be fine.

Best Daiwa All Around Ratio?
For most moving baits, the 6.3 will be fine. For contact baits like jigs and plastics, I use a faster reel, though I don't feel like a 6.3 is a disadvantage.

Pike winter thoughts
It's not that they're afraid or lack fear...they're just stupid. Really stupid, and miserable, lol. I love them though!

Best Daiwa All Around Ratio?
It won't be hard to reel in a big fish. Ratio makes no difference. Move the fish with the rod. Guys that argue the torque thing do most of their fishing behind a keyboard. I've caught fish three and four times larger than a typical bass with a high speed reel and never felt like there was a too much torque. It's such a silly debate. Here's a little guy I caught on a 7:1 reel:

Best Daiwa All Around Ratio?
Honestly, whatever you get, you'll probably learn to like it. I use 6 to 7:1 range reels for gen.purpose.

Best Daiwa All Around Ratio?
Minor correction: most high speed spinning reels are more like 30-35 IPT. Generally, if you are fighting the fish correctly, you move the fish with the rod, and make up the ground you made by reeling, and moving the rod back at the fish, and then repeating. Small fish don't really matter, you can generally reel them in. I've never noticed much a difference in torque when fighting a fish. I definitely have a preference of what is more comfortable for retrieves of different baits. Anyone that says torque is an issue is exaggerating. IPT for most reels can generally found in the specs on the company's product web site. The only time I pay attention to this is when comparing a reel to one I already own. So, say I want another spinnerbait reel, that is similar to the one I like using. I compare the IPT so can expect a similar retrieve with the new reel.

Are these baits a Ned Rig
Wouldn't it just be called a Ned Fly? I still like my friend's term, Turd Jig.
