  1. Don't know why they'd care, but you never know. I've been paired with boaters that had all kinds of weird rules for the non boater. Part of the reason I only fish team format tournaments anymore. Bottom line, if you're putting fish in the boat, then your doing it right, despite what anyone else thinks.
  2. If I'm ripping weeds, I prefer a fast action rod. For bouncing off boulders or rip-rap, a moderate action rods suits me better. Use the lure weight to match with the right power rod - usually a medium will do, unless they're really heavy traps.
  3. Some great info in a recent discussion that is relevant:
  4. You can use the same rod you use for similarly weighed plastics. Jig fishing is more about choosing the proper jig for the cover and/or bottom composition than any geographical location. I use jigs as much as I use plastics, and I'm "up north." I suggest doing a search for "jigs" in our articles section, and familiarize yourself with the different types. You can also contact our sponsor, Seibert Outdoors, and he can put together a good selection of types you'd do well with. His brush jig can be considered an all terrain vehicle, and will cover most situations.

You use a reamer for this. http://www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/CorkRodBuilding/Forecast-Dream-Reamer-Set.html
  6. Darn. I'll look into it. Sorry for the technical malfunction.
  7. We have a sticky with TONS of topics you can use to research:
  8. Flambeau AZ6. I've had a couple AZ7s and an AZ4 for years.
  9. These are my favorite, too. Especially for fishing rocks and rip rap. For weeds, I use the Boo-Yah Knockers (formerly Xcalibur).
  10. The Okuma Helios (HS-273VLXa) pairs well with that style. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/mat-daddy-helios-review.html
  11. My personal best fish came on a 10" Powerworm.
  12. I'd rather pull my own wisdom teeth out with channel locks than fish a Carolina rig.
  13. Turn off the volume, and watch what they're doing, and with what....
  14. This will always end up at, "get your own boat." I know it sounds crass, but if you're not going to take the opportunity to fish outside your comfort zone, then that's the only solution. I fish as a non boater partner in many team format style tournaments. I don't find style to be a big problem. It's location. Sometimes the person with the keys to the boat has a one track mind when it comes to location. You just have to roll with it. As always, communicating is a must, and said the right way, can sound more like a suggestion than a complaint.
  15. Smallies in Ontario and Erie will do the same. I always get a chuckle when I put that color on. Until I yell to hand me the net.
  16. Native American and French.
  17. So, did we establish a correlation between having part numbers for the shoes in the schematic, or not and the spool coming with shoes or not?
  18. Yep. Another word we use in bass fishing for #3 is "profile," which I think gets over looked.
  19. White is the most common color in nature. Interesting....
  20. I've bought and sold many items, much more expensive than reels, through eBay using PayPal as a payment method. Only once did I have an issue. The seller did not ship the item in a timely matter. It took her a month, and a reversal of funds through PayPal arbitration, as well as a lock on her PayPal account to get the item. Once I got the item, I indicated to PayPal and eBay arbitration I was satisfied, and that was that. When it comes to buying an item, ask the seller specific questions - is it warrantied, will the box be sealed, was it refurbished, etc. If they don't answer to your satisfaction, don't buy/bid. Don't pay with "gift" or by other insecure means. Simple as that.
  21. Siebert Dredge Brush Jig is my favorite. Pick your favorite color.
  22. I like a finesse type worm on a wacky jig.
