  1. I usually get a camp site with electric hookup. In the case of motels, I look for a place that I can park the boat right by the door and run an extension cord.
  2. I have a couple of the older FlashMinnows that I love.
  3. He's talking about one little plastic part, not the frame. How much is automotive grade lacquer and a device to deliver the paint? Yes.
  4. You want help? Or here just to insult people? Perhaps you'd have preferred we sent you on a goose chase for airliner enamel. Keep it simple, get a rattle can that's good for plastic.
  5. I have CI4 reels since they came out with the material - no issues with durability. The new updated Mojos are much better than previous gen. They use the higher level SCIII blank. If it balances well, and feels good, it's decent pairing. My reels are ALWAYS much higher end than my rods.
  6. Outboards provide a bit of charge to the cranking battery. Your deep cycles should not be wired to the outboard. This is how all bass boats are set up.
  7. Sweet reel on a decent, multi purpose rod. Spinnerbaits, jig/worms, even big top water or square bills. I like that length for short distance casts. You can probably pitch and flip (you should be able to do these casts on ANY rod and reel you own), but not in the heaviest cover. For that you'll need something heavier, and probably longer, and a slower taper. It's a good length for skipping. Just go out and fish it - you'll finds where it fits best for you. Sometimes general recommendations don't fit for everyone's style or ability.
  8. Thanks for the info!
  9. Shimano Permalub is what came in the reel and is a very good grease. Cal's Light Grease (purple) is good.
  10. You would refinish gel coat with gel coat. There's no easy solution once it's gone. If it feels rough, I agree that the clear is gone.
  11. I think you need to have temps above freezing during the day, and then drop below freezing, and then you're making ice? Is that right? Anyway Bigbasscav, you know how much ice in Big Bay? Might have to make a road trip and fish with my buddy out there.
  12. Please use your original topic instead of starting a new one.
  13. Not too hard to retrofit a retractable dog leash with a slide track mount.
  14. Copyright refers to published material - written word, musical performance, computer code, images, photographs, etc. A "bait" is an object, and therefore cannot be copyrighted. More info here: http://www.copyright.gov/
  15. Irrespective of technique, I go with this rule of thumb: 1/3 to 1/2 the rating of the weakest link in the system. So if you're using 50# braid, with a 15# leader on a rod rated to 20# line, you can go 5-8 lbs. of resistance, and be assured nothing will break, provided you tie a good knot.
  16. I'd skip the DS altogether, and use this, Raul: Michigan Cricket
  17. Anything with words "nano," "erratic," or "attraction" in it.
  18. There's quite a few guys on the Wilderness Team that have them. I'm not sold - too complicated and looks like it get in the way. It does clean up the tangled anchor line, but there are cheaper solutions (YakAttack SideWinder) that are less obtrusive.
  19. The Owner Down Shot hooks are GREAT for this. I don't have any issue with 6# fluoro and a ML/XF rod. If I'm using it weeds or timber, I step up to a M (my Pinnacle is closer to a MH, see: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-DHC5-performa-review.html) with 15-20# braid and an 8# leader. Feel a bite and whack them with a wrist-flick set. If you're drag is set up right, you won't have an issue.
  20. Any worm you can jam a neko weight, a nail, or even a little ball jig with the curve of the hook nipped off will work.
  21. Depth doesn't really affect my weight selection, it's fall rate. Wind, line diameter, and the worm you're using has much to do with it. If I'm fishing "deep" then I'll use a drop shot. We pour wacky jigs up to a 1/2 oz. Comes in handy on a really windy day.
  22. I use something similar for my float rigs for steelhead, but since I run straight fluoro on most of my DS rigs, I don't bother. I can tie them up pretty fast now.
