Baitcasters And Backing With Braid
This si the simplest, and most elegant solution. I've stopped using backing. The knot bugs me, and can be problematic. I'd rather have a full spool of braid. In the scheme of it all...$10 to $15 of "wasted" braid isn't all that much. To me, it's not wasted, though.

Looking For A Top Water/swimmbait Rod And Reel Set Up
Froggin, I use a 7'3" Heavy/Xfast, and a fast reel. For swimbaits, like 68s and the like, I use a 7'9" Heavy/Fast or 8' Xheavy/Mod-Fast and a slow to mid speed reel. There is pretty much no crossover in the two styles. The Frog rod is a light and nimble stick, while the swimbait rods are "light" they arn't exactly light weight, if you follow.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
Good arguments for short rods. Still isn't an issue for me, but maybe I'm not noticing the problem, but still working around it.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
Meh, I bring my 8' swim bait rod just about every kayak trip. Never felt it was an issue.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
Is there some pro/con to using a short rod? I see lots of answers leaning toward short. Length always had more to do with what I was throwing or how I was fishing, not the boat I'm in. Anyone can explain that a little further?

Snakehead Infestation In S. Fl.! Kill?
The snakehead apocolypse is way overblown. They don't inhabit the best environments for bass, and even where they may have displaced some marginal bass population...they bite lures, fight hard, and taste great. Sounds terrible.

Mid Life Crisis: Kayak To (Aluminum) Bassboat...is It Inevitable? What Should I Expect?
Retrieving a boat can be a little hard on your back, if you are doing it alone. Nothing bad, but if you have issues....might not be as easy as you think.

Dirty Water Jerkbaits
This one place I actually like a big old X-Rap. Don't use huge pauses, keep a steady cadence, even if it's rip-rip-rip-pause, repeat. Clown is a good color. So is pink and orange.

Punch Rig Pegging?
I'm in the group that doesn't believe the knot hase anything to do with hook up. A well tied knot is better than the one the pros say to use. I don't snell when I use a z-bend hook. Why? I can tie a better Palomar or Uni knot that will hold. If I'm using a straight shank flipping hook, I'll snell it. Why? It's fast, and holds well. Easy to tie, and retying is important when punching. I generally snell any straight shank hook, regardless of technique or even species. A snell also protects the knot itself from the weight, so there's probably better durability. The idea that it results in better hookups isn't really quantifiable, and think about it - stick a hook point in a piece of wood, and pull on the line. Where is this "kickout" everyone talks about? I agree, the hook rests differently when supended in air, or even in the water, but when it's sucked in be a bass, and you pull the cord, it's pretty much the same direction, regardless of knot. So, if you tie a good snell, use it, man.

Fishing Large Bodies Of Water From The Bank
Just like fishing from a boat, when fishing from shore, you have to do your homework, and choose spots based on seasonal patterns, the structure, and cover present. Spring and fall are two of your best bets for locating shallow bass, easily accessible from shore, irrespective of how big the lake is.

Kayak Net
I use a net sometimes, though more often, I use a fish grip or clip attached to a T-Reigns track mount lanyard. This works great for those online CPR tournaments. Leave the f\ish in the water, while you get ready to take the pic.

All Purpose St Croix Spinning Rod
I throw shallow cranks on my topwater rod (62 MXF) and like WIGuide said, it works. Any heavier a power, and it might be tough, but the M power works well enough.

I had a casting version, but got rid of it. They are spinners, and my mistake, they are 6-3 not 6-2.

The MLXF in SCIII is a very special taper/power mixture. I have three 6-2 versions of it.
