  1. Me neither! LOL. Good luck out there.
  2. That thing's a stud!
  3. Do many neoprene suits have a "relief valve"? LOL, that's a must have for me.
  4. I think you're a little optimistic for an early ice over, lol. Water temps can't fall below average air temps.... NY, NJ, VT, CT, NH, all showing high temps on the 60s, lows just hitting the 40s for the next week or so. Another warm front on the way. I'm still seeing water temps in the mid to low 60s, warming on sunny days. Gonna be more than a few weeks. Maybe not in Maine, but most of the NE hasn't been sent into the deep freeze yet. I will say, that my local lakes are much larger and deeper than most (Finger/Great Lakes), and take a lot longer to cool, so YMMV. We got a little longer yet.
  5. I agree, but below 50* water temps is closer to winter than fall. The OP wasn't really specific about temps.
  6. Not at all. It may be true some days, but for the most part, it's moving bait time, and power fishing.
  7. That's pretty much the reason I avoid neoprene. It's just not comfortable to me. Plus, I like to be able to adjust insulation gear separately from water proof gear. That comes with some overhead in costs, though.
  8. For the next several weeks, this is the only reel I'll be using....
  9. Nonsense. I've never ended up in the water unintentionally in ten years of kayaking.
  10. I think you're gonna have to be a little more specific here.... I use both Seaguar and P-Line products. What is it you're looking for the line to be?
  11. Put me in the floater camp for hard baits. I guess it's because that's what I started with, and it's what I still use the most. I use a fast sink the least, though I have one that sinks pretty quick. When speed is a trigger, fast sink is what I use.
  12. Life ain't cheap. A wet suit doesn't sound like a terrible idea. Thoughts on that? A-jay?
  13. LOL, this is my buddy, Wade's boat:
  14. I guess I do a bit of both. I'm most definitely NOT giving the fish slack when I reel down and pump the fish, though. I think that's a misnomer, or if you are getting slack, it's bad technique. One thing, I rarely lose a hooked frog fish. If it's well hooked, they usually stay pinned.
  15. I used to joke about putting a "5 of Diamonds" pattern on my yellow kayak. Moby Pike would eat me.
  16. Cats love it, lol. It's something I figured out on my own, while shore fishing. The wind had blown all the slop up against a steep bank, and I started by poking holes in the mat with my rod tip, but they kept closing up. So, I sort of came up with the "flip punch" cast. Caught a few nice fish on that short bank fishing trip, so it found a place in my skill set.
  17. I don't think he's in any way connected with the company, though I cannot locate any certifications or bona fides that support the accounting degree. If you like dnb music, do a search -some cool stuff, Slade. That doesn't really mean anything other than I see no reason to doubt his own personal stake in a product that will help his specific situation. I'd say lobbying local lawmakers with FACTS about revenue from fishing, studies showing positive benefits to fisheries that are dealing with zebes and quagga, etc., to change the current policy is a better plan than an experimental poison from a company with it's business under the SEC's scrutiny. Anyway, due diligence has been done, and as usual, just another fisherman like you and me.
  18. Ask this guy, lol.
  19. Good luck, man.
  20. There's plenty of guys that are way better than I that do things I'd never do, and can still out fish me. Look at Ike, ripping line off his spinning reel...what is the point of that? Oh well, he could still smoke me, lol.
  21. I have a 6'8" MH jig rod that is perfect for pitching jigs while seated. Though, I use a SOT, with the seat in a "captain's chair" position, higher up. One thing you can do, is learn a roll cast. For punching, you generally only need three or four feet off the mat to get the "terminal velocity" to punch through. For actual flipping, you can do a modified version of the flip punch. See the video for that, nevermind the kids and the cat, lol.
  22. I caught the NY state record water stick last time out. When it hit, it felt like I set the hook into a log, lol. Weld's: NEVER leave home without a scale and a camera!
  23. In others words, I turn reams of data into pretty pictures on the web so an MBA can "read" it., LOL.
  24. Yeah, that's right. I'm in a new job - Business Intelligence Architect. I'm building the entire data analysis suite for a mid size health care administration company's new participant management application. Lots of SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, ASP.NET, etc. Pretty cool, since it's from the ground up.
