  1. My favorite topic are the ones that come up 14 seconds after a new product is released, asking for reviews, lol.
  2. Pretty much anything other than deep diver cranks, and even then you can learn to adapt.
  3. I'll say. Reminds me of the hull on my Xpress, but with better lines, topside.
  4. Another point.... Topics are sorted by most recent post. A direct answer to a simple question often ends the thread. "Use the search," functionally is just a bump. If you don't like the repetitive simple question threads, then why bump it up?
  5. Those threads have a very short shelf life. I don't worry about it too much.
  6. I don't need much, but there's always room for a good jig rod. Might be getting a new centrepin rig this winter, but that's for trout.
  7. What happens when the fish strikes the skirt?
  8. Those look great, Matt. I can't really tell from the picture, but they look like they have pretty stout hooks. For me, that's real important, and why I like the J-Will heads.
  9. LOL, yeah, summertime... 1. Jig 2. Big Swimbait 3. Jig 4. Some little plastic on a dropshot 5. Jig
  10. Seat time is REALLY important. I sort of lucked out with my first fishing kayak, an OK Prowler Big Game. It suited my needs perfectly, without any seat time. I've been in others that were great boats, but would have been a big disappointment if I had purchased.
  11. I pretty much agree. The forum works best via post traffic. If there is basic info out there, link to it. If it's a really good thread, we'll add it to the "Best Of..." sticky (http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/60793-best-of-bassresourcecom/). Unless we're talking very basic stuff that can be found in the stickies or FAQ, "do a search" is a lame answer.
  12. The goal here is to distill this info into one thread, not debate. Though any discussion of points made is certainly welcome, especially if it can be backed with links or research.
  13. Reverse is where the things get goofed up, at least that's what I found. All the cables have to seat properly in the cover, and the reverse cable is tricky. I think those spring washers are just interference fit, under the shifter stick, one on each side, maybe? You should be able to see it in a repair book at any marine OB parts store, like West Marine.
  14. Did you take it apart? They can be tricky to get back together....
  15. I use J-will heads.
  16. I didn't have any issues fishing with Maico's 50 DC, though he set it up. As for the OP, I'd be looking for rare lefty models, for resale here in the US.
  17. Sizes are not standard between brands. As long as the hook doesn't interfere with the action, and isn't too big to bury the point, it's fine.
  18. I had a funny feeling....don't ask me how I know this...
  19. I change my fuel/water seperator filter every fall.
  20. Oh God, what happened to that sideplate? What CK said about the dial.
  21. That's because it's reverse thread.
  22. How does Lew's compare to Abu? Internally, they are pretty much the same as a Revo. You pick the features and the price point that fits you. They are decent reels.
  23. Hull width has more to do with paddle length than height, for paddling most SOT fishing kayaks. something in s 230-240 size will do just fine. I prefer a shorter paddle, but I use a "box" grip, and my stroke uses only core - my arms move very little, and I'm a short guy. This is something that's hard for new paddlers to learn, but once you do, you will be saving your strength for fishing, not paddling. If you can take a couple of sea kayak paddling lessons from a certified instructor, you'll get it quick. For PFD, I have the Stohlquist model shown above. If your a big guy, and the tackle tray/pockets get in the way, they have regular models with smaller zipper pockets. I also use a hydrostatic model auto inflatable PFD for really warm days.
