I like DFH 90 better than 120, now that I've tried them back to back. I've been off the IPAs for a while, though.

As was stated, spec'ing out components on a website is not really a "custom" rod. There are little things that a builder can do for you that make it truly yours.

I've had enough days where I've been bit doing the "wrong" thing that the colder = slower, warmer = faster conventional wisdom is bunk. I start at a fast, and slow down until I get bit. Temperature has zilch effect on what I do.

I throw whatever is working or what I want to throw. Cover, and to some extent, the bait dictates what weight setup I use. Can't toss a 1 oz. swimbait on 6# fluoro. Likewise, a 1/16 oz. wacky jig doesn't go far on 65# braid. One thing I do a lot of is finesse in cover. 15-20# braid, and an 8# leader of fluoro or CXX will give you all the muscle you need in patchy weeds.

I've been using these for years. I put them on a small, weighted swimbait hook. They also work on a jika rig. Last tip, wacky, but not through the middle, like a worm.. Hook it like you would a live crab, through the back and pop a nail weight in it's tail or face, depending on what you want the crab to do.

You just have to keep your eyes peeled.

Because after a few feet, any color turns black. So, it's not a stretch to color the brighter neon colors black to begin with. To assume that what you see is the same as what the bass sees is BIG mistake, if you ask me. A cool thing to do with bright colors is color half the spool. Then you get an alternating pattern that you can easily see when line watching.

My Bullet is 21' 10" long. That bigger front deck makes it zero issue for two guys up front, even when overhand chucking a crank.

I've pedaled an Ultimate. It's not bad, slow though compared to Mirage Drive.

It's called Mirage Drive. It's "powered" by your feet, using strokes to activate flipper like fins below the hull. Chuck could probably elaborate, as I've only had short seat time in one.

"New" as defined by a BPS employee, and "new" from the manu are often two entirely different things. I had an employee tell me about the "new" drop shot bait: Roboworms, lol. BPS also has a lot of exclusive baits and tackle.

Did you read all my posts? The clicking drag feature on both Daiwa and Abu reels predicates a longer shaft. The mechanism adds about a 1/2" or so to the length. So, it's actually a design solution, not a gimmick. The marketing behind it may be gimmicky, but it's a compromise in design. Add one thing, and there's a result. From there a new solution arises: swept handles. At any rate, it all boils down to personal preference. I ave aftermarket straight handles on reels that originally had swept, and I don't really notice it.

Definitely not a marketing gimmick in the case of Daiwa's introduction of this feature. The marketing itself is gimmicky lacking an explanation of why engineers developed such a thing, but if you sit, and compare two reels, and put a straight shaft on a OE swept reel, there is about 1/2" difference. Now, whether that makes an actual difference probably has more to do with what you're used to, how you hold the reel, etc. I don't really feel much difference, as I stated initially. the weight of the handle and star, along with the length is something I notice first.

I explained that above. Shimano's clicking solution is already VERY low profile. It's actually recessed in the TOP of the drag star, and add very little weight and no extra height. It does predicate using a spring, and it can be tricky to replace the star and handle after service.

That PA14 is sweet. It's a vessel, not a kayak, LOL. Congrats, Chuck!

Another way to think this: it solves the issue of having the knobs too far off center, when a taller clicking drag stack is used. The swept handle keeps the knobs in the usual place.
