  1. Thanks for the drill motor idea Flechero. Your cork press pics are what I had in mind. I'll definatly post pics too. Take care, Scott
  2. I purchased a flex coat hand wrapper and a 18 rpm drying motor along with a few other items.I have a feeling I'm gonna need somthing for sanding my handles.I will definately be experimenting with cork rings and various color combo's. Guess I'll have to get a cheap lathe. Is there any material you guys know of that epoxy won't stick to that I could use as a mandrel?.I know I can build a jig and remove the mandrel after the cork is compressed.I just had another idea for a jig involving leaving the mandrel in.
  3. Thanks fellas. I dove in head first yesterday and ordered a bunch of stuff for my first build.I ordered Fugi concept guides, the BYAG model. They are black. I've been reading all I can via the net before I made up my mind on what to get.I'm color blind so I had my wife giving me a hand on thread colors to try and match the blank.I see colors just not the correct shades. It's more like color stupid.I found a rod review that showed close up photo's of the blank for color reference. I'm looking to build something vanilla but classy at the same time if that's possible 8-) I also ordered a video by Doc Ski and a Book by Tom Kirkman so I have some media resources and hopefully won't have a bunch of dopey questions for you guys. Thanks again. Scott.
  4. Fellas would it be ok to do this to create a more seamless tansistion from the blank to the eyelet foot? Does anyone do this on a regular basis? Thanks in advance.
  5. I use 6# smoke Fireline with a 8#Seaguar flouro leader for jigging. The same for jerkbaits; except in the bright green fireline. It really helps me to be able to see the line. You can pick up bites with your eyes before you get your slack reeled up after a jerk.
  6. Yeah I noticed that too for mine.Re-sized them down to message board format and they are still a tad big. I'm gonna look for a free program that's easy to use for re-sizing.
  7. All right thanks for the feed back fellas.
  8. Since my targeted species in my neck of the woods is the fiesty SmallMouth Mine would be a Lucky Craft Jerk Bait.78 sp series. My other reason is I could also use it on the trophy Walleye and Pike that swim the waters around here.I could cast it.Troll it.Jerk it.Add weight to the line above it to adjust running depth.Heck I could even carolina rig it.
  9. Wow that's just insane.Beautiful fish.
  10. What were they using for bait?Sure could'nt have been a Lucky Craft!
  11. I'm in the market for a new spinning rod for fishing tube jigs for smallies. Any suggestions. Throwing 1/8 to 3/8 weights. These both look to be quality rods.Thought I read some where that the same person was involved in the start up of both of these companys.Could be wrong though.Any how for those that fish them what's your take on them.I myself prefer a stiffer rod but am open to suggestions.
  12. I purchased my rig last spring.2000 Stratos.Steal of a deal.$9900.Mint flawless condition. Here's a pic the guy sent me before I bought it.I've since replaced the bow trolling motor. The one on it was 12 volt and tired.I picked up a 24 volt 70lb. minn-kota all terrain. Here it is in my garage
  13. Anyone tie there own? It would be cool to see everyones different styles and designs. Lets post some pics and any tips on fishing them. Location, water temps, presentation.
  14. I pulled in a video camera case while fish'n in a northern Wisconsin lake.It was empty
  15. I'm a newb here.Did you post picture of that Smallie?
  16. When it's really howling I'll throw out an anchor off the bow.Work the area till I'm satified, then pull up the anchor and drift to fresh water and start fishing again. It's a 50/50 chance for wind around here so we use drift socks alot, which I don't mind as I can concentrate on my fishing and the trolling motor can't spook the fish in this ultra clear water.
  17. My best freind has a 2005 TR 21 with a 225 E-Tech.That boat is not a wet ride. We've been out on Lake Michigan, and Green Bay a ton of times. He's also fished it on Erie. All boats are suseptible to chine walk if the motor is not set up correctly. I've had the oppertunity to fish out of various brands of boats as a non boater in tourney's.Not gonna bash any brands. Will say the Tritons are amongst my favorites.I my self have'nt been able to spring for a big dollar boat. I run a 2000 Stratos.
  18. As was mentioned parts for the motor is a huge factor.
  19. Keep the pics comming.Very interesting.
  20. Thanks.Glad I found this place 8-)
