I love sports for the personalities, and I hate sports because of the personalities.
  2. true, and having seen a good number of accidents, that's why they're most likely to get sprayed all over the highway.
  3. What do you do? What's your story should it end today (the cliffs notes version).
  4. I agree with the comments about the duel braking system on the new johnny morris elite. One of the guys there set one up so that I could do some pitching with it compared to a revo STX. The cetrifugal brake makes a noticable difference. It all but eliminated the need to thumb the spool. Had it been smaller, I would've considered it over the revo. p.s. the sales guy also said that the new nitro series were'nt all that awesome and not to get fooled by the hype.
  5. Does anyone have any experience with the BPS excel brand? It's going to be stupid cheap when the classic starts........ Alpster, that was the single best response to an often asked question that I've ever seen on the forum.
  6. I agree with your soapbox. I just started fishing again last year and tried to use a whole range of equipment based on suggestion and the ocassional sale. But after spending one or two days a week on the water and using a fair amount of different types of equipment I have switched almost completely to revo reels and st. croix rods. Mostly, for the reasons you named. I like them, they fit comfortably, and I got most of them for under retail. I don't know that it impacts my confidence. Something that does come to mind is that I may fish a particular lure a little longer than I would if I didn't enjoy using the equipment it were on. Example, I like to fish a jig with a diawa L&T rod and a revo STX. Because I enjoy that combo, I'm less inclined to put it down in lieu of another set-up. I think those few extra pitches has led to some success through patience. The biggest lesson to me has been to bargain shop, but don't buy cheap stuff.
  7. Thanks guys, I went to BPS today and handled both. I agree with the idea that a medium will suit me fine. I'm going to pair it with a pro max that I picked up for $15 dollars! Can't wait for the warmer weather.
  8. I'm going to get a crankin stick to complete another set-up. I have a St. Croix premier glass medium action. That I've paired with a revo SC for lip-less cranks. Should I get a M or a M/H for my general crankbait set-up? I'll be using it for topwaters sometimes also. I don't deep crank much and will probably not throw much more than a 12-14' diver on it. I can't decide my self. Help.
  9. Cabelas has a combo in-store that consists of an all-star instinct 6'6" rod (it's the spinnerbait specific rod of that series) and a pfleuger echelon reel. It's just short of $100 I think and it's pretty good. It will be tough to beat the classic coming up though.
