Applications of a Moderate Rod
I think moderate actions rods differ based on the modulus of the blank. A high end moderate rod has a more crisp action than a low end modulus blank. Not all moderate action rods are the same.

Walk the Dog lures on constant reel
Jeff if he has problems with slack line movement using the rod suggest he tries using the reel. Reel stop then reel then stop. Stutter reeling will walk the dog with some baits. Have him try it along side the boat to get the rhythm down. Might work.

How useful is iPilot LINK for bass fishing?
I started using this concept with my first boat using a T8 kicker & terrova auto pilot over 10 years ago. Its a great way to cover water and allows you to steer without a dedicated auto pilot or foot pedal from either the front of the boat or the stern. Makes life so much simplier.

I use a moderate action rod for all treble hook applications.

Stay on them. The reward is coming.

One Lure Only
Pointer 128 in chartreuse shad. One ounce bait. Big enough to catch both quality largemouth & smallmouth. It also will put the hurt on walleye, pike & skis plus a few steelhead, brown trout & lake trout.

Caught some FATTIES! Possibly fattest bass youve seen
I would be camping out to fish that lake very regularly. Those bass indicate a very healthy lake system. I agree with soflabasser that gives you an excellent shot at a dd bass.

Remembering Billy Westmoreland...
If you are a smallmouth fisherman you need to know all you can learn about Billy Westmoreland. I read his book Them Ol' Brown Fish. The book really fills in the history of his life and what made him who he was. A true legend in our sport.

How do I use a jerk bait???
The secret to working a jerkbait on semi-slack line is to try it boat side where you can observe how the bait reacts to each stroke or input. Try tight line then semi slack then slack line . Watch closely as you try each to get an idea what works best for what you want to accomplish. Try a straight pull then a half pull then a snap. Try a single jerk then two jerks or three. Practice, practice, practice. Also remember each bait will react differently to the same input. The only way to become proficient at a technique is to practice it. Time on the water becomes your friend.

New years resolutions!
Your shins will tell you if your abusing them. I always thought shin splints were more of a sprinting problem than jogging or distance running.

Which Costa lens color?
Yes I went to the closest independant dealer. He advised me what frame would work best for my head shape & prescription. The frame I liked the best was not suitable for my prescription because of lense thickness. I gave him my updated prescription & he ordered them directly from Costa. They came in 4 days later. Instead of going to a large box retailer who sells Costas I looked for a optical shop. The optician can give you detailed info to make the best choice. I was told that the copper lenses offered the optimal sight penetration into fresh water & were the best driving lenses for daytime lighting.
