  1. Hey Muddy. Check your messages.
  2. That's pretty impressive for sure! I didn't even know they had trout in Falcon Lake ;D
  3. Micro with all due respect I can not disagree more. I could not in good contious expect a teacher who I do not know personally teach my son morals. That is my job. This teacher does not know me or what values I want my son to learn. She sees him for 7.5 hrs a day for nine months. As far as the rules you discuss I agree with you they seem pretty ridiculous. I do not know how the school board members in your area are selected but here they are elected. I am sure you already do because honestly you sound like a very involved parent, but more in your area need to attend school board meetings and make your voices heard. My child is not behaviorly challeneged. I can appreciate your frustration with the system and getting your son some help. In my day a child in need of special help got it. Now the child has to be mainstreamed as to not alienate him. It's all about money. I do have experience in public education. My mother has been with the school district for 32 years and my mother in law has been a kindergarten teacher for the last 24. I am glad that the parents you know are involved but tell me how involved are parents when my mother in law sets parent teacher conferences and less than half the parents bother to show. Or how my son had no open house last year because of lack of participation. Micro let me add that as far as the school system being broken. I agree with you 100%. Something has to be done and I think for anything like that to happen good people like yourself and others need to be heard and possibly run for school board positions or even parent advisory councils.
  4. Good Luck!

  7. When I was in elementary school if you misbehaved you were sent to the principals office and got paddled. It wasn't about the paddling it was about the embarrasment of having to go back to class after the punishment. That is the problem with these kids today. Schools can't seperate kids because someones feelings may be hurt. Instead if you are bad you get a red card. Oh no, not the red card! At home instead of a smack on the a** you get the "time out". I DO NOT advocate beating child! Like I said a smack on the a** is all that is needed.
  8. I have never met Fish Chirs personally. In the conversations I have had with him and reading his posts I fully believe him to be an honest individual.
  9. In my experience the jig color depends more on the water clarity than on the season. I basically throw 2 colors. Black & Blue or Watermelon & Red.
  10. That's great ;D
  11. Given the look of the worm and the fact that they were in Gallon zip-loc bags could it be that the worms were somebody's hand-poureds?
  12. That thing is pretty nasty looking. Probably going to find out it was someones pet they chucked in the pond.
  13. The thing is it is not the schools responsibility to teach our children morals it is our job. I had the opportunity to do some volunteer work over the winter and let me tell you these children today are nothing like we were in school. They talk back, question authority and for the most part lack the basics of proper manners. It is not the schools fault. The parents need to step up. It is not the childs place to question authority. If the teacher tells him/her to sit down then that what needs to happen. The problem that I see with education is not that the teachers have to "teach to the test", it is that they have to spend so much time with the behaviorly challenged kid the kids that really need help don't get it.
  14. The cool thing about this thread is there are no wrong answers. There are so many factors that go into this. It is all about the method you have confidence in.
