Hey Guys, bought a Shimano CI4 today and need a rod. Mainly fish for schooling white bass with small jig heads using grubs, also small buzzbaits with 8lb line, any ideas? Don't want to spend a fortune, thanks

Same here, I have 2-51's, 2-101's, and a 401. There are some deals floating around on these reels, bought my 101's at Gander Mountain for $199.99, the 401, also at Gander for $249.99. The 51's were $279 at a small tackle shop down on the coast. The 51's are my favorite with 8lb line on a Shimano Cumara medium rod. :

The CTE50/51 are discontinued reels, get yourself the 50TE, they are very fine reels. I dearly love my CTE51GT, after you get the first one, get yourself another spare one before they are all gone.

Try some Sunline Defier, it is good stuff.

Looking at getting a 6'8" Cumara, should I get the medium or medium/X-fast? Using light line 8 to 10lb range spooled on a Mg51 for catching white bass. Hope to hear from actual owners here, thanks

Sunline defier is d**n good line, I use the 13lb mostly, it lasts a very long time, retains its vivid green color, wish it was cheaper, you get what you pay for. Does he have anymore for $20, I'll take 3 or 4 rolls.

Roadwarrior, I was surfing prior posts and thought you might reply with that very rod. I have never used round bait casters before, but wanted to try the DC reel, and found this bargain at Gander Mountain. Do you have this reel on the 844 rod? Thanks

Bought a Shimano Calcutta 201 DC this week for a bargain, $299, need ideas for a rod worthy of such a nice reel. I mainly bass fish in a very heavy brush/cover lake. Will use it for T-rig, senkos, buzzbaits, etc. Anyone here have this reel? Thanks in advance
