  1. Anyone know the water lvl right now? Ill be up there this week, and there is supposed to be constant rain *sigh* oh well. Hopefully the weeds are down still and the water is high.
  2. Fishing has was fantastic for me and my partner last week. caught quite a few bass ranging between 2-4 pounds. Big silver lake the bite was good on shakey heads on seawalls and docks... The fish were just starting to move in. Seen a monster on that lake I swear she will go 6+ pounds. Also seen a pair of bass spawning on Little Silver lake. Pontiac lake was ok if you could get out of the wind and into the canals, while Maceday proved to have the largest fish of the week... A 5 pounder off a jerkbait on a windblown seawall... I go to fletchers for a Pike tourney between 14th and 17th. I will be on the lookout up there.
  3. weekly bass tourney's on pontiac lake, the first tournament was in april. I dont know the sponsor if there is any. I think its a guy who runs the launch over there on the southwest side of the lake. I fished one over there last year, and he must have gotten my info from that.
  4. As I understand it you are not allowed to keep Bass untill memorial weekend here, however catch and release started roughly 2 weeks ago. How is it then that I recieved a letter advertising a tournament before memorial weekend? Is this practice legal?
  5. what was up with that bass's eyes? when they get that big do they bug out like that? Freaky lookin IMO
  6. Water was WAY down, went out by the dam with a guide and caught 1 10 lb striper... then a COLD rain came in and shut the fish down... Didnt get a bump or bite the rest of the day... quit @ noon due to rain. Then the storms that ripped atlanta came in, and I never went back out. Didnt get skunked tho I guess.
  7. And being the excellent student that you are, the reason for this is? Is it like the fat guy that eats alot at golden corral vs the guy who is more active in finding his food? that may be a bad example, but im looking for the college awnser.
  8. I have a lightning rod that I use as a back up... When I brought it off the bench last year, it delivered just fine. All Star is making some good rods at a decent price, and if you can get to a bass pro shops, those extreme series rods are only $59.99 right now. An excellent deal IMO
  9. We bought a rapala digital scale, and didnt like it at all. The fish had to be perfectly still all the time and it always seemed the fish were smaller then we thought (this is a common fisherman problem) So we bought a digital scale from a supermarket meat dept, and found that the rapala scale was almost always a pound off. Ive yet to buy another one for that reason. I have considered the grip and weigh style that Roland Martin uses, but then again he also endorsed the helicopter lure. *sigh*
  10. There were 3, 8 pounders caught outta fletchers pond last year that I know of, and I know there is a 10 or larger in just that lake. There are some real toads out there. We have the water here for it to be possible.. we have WAY more water then the other states in our region. Minnesota might have more, but you see my point here... The only problem may be the winters here. Ohio, Indiana, PA, and the eastern states thaw quicker then us. And that fact may mean not only more opportunities to catch DD bass, but also a longer growing season. I will say that there may be a DD smalie in erie that will challenge that TN record... I believe that is out of Dale Hollow?
  11. I agree... Post pics of those Mountains of tackle... I will take one of mine as soon as I get home from Vacation.
  12. The gray ghost can get a little crowded.
  13. #3 only with a rattle.
  14. 3.45 while im visiting Cincy.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. They are extremely hard to hook... weve had em take live shiners sideways... I heard a rumor on how to hook them perhaps you can confirm it. Guy said to have nylon twine on a lure cause they spin when hooked. Did yours spin? also I have no idea to put twine on a lure, but thats what I heard.
  16. I was Deer hunting once and had about 12-15 of em chattering eating my corn... so I got down, walked back to the cabin and grabbed my cousin who had come in early. Told him to grab his shotgun if he had a small game license. Walked back and proceeded to eliminate the corn theives. Brought about 7-8 of em back.. skinned em and cleaned em and put em on the grill.. I got to tell you it didnt taste real good. But perhaps I prepared it wrong. IT was EXTREMELY tough
  17. My boat came with the WW2 U-boat torpedo package
  18. guess we will have to wait and see. Untill that day tho its G-Loomis for me.
  19. Brown Craw big-O dont know if its luck, but its like a can of coors light.. it never lets me down.
  20. 2 words for your tackle box... Epi Pen. Nice fish!
  21. Ive found little tiny snap ons you can get in the fly fishing section that work fairly well... Personally I just use a brass knot tyer and go with a rapala knot and a dab of superglue... takes about 30 sec...
  22. Stop watchin TV and start fishin! I like In Fisherman, but I dont just fish for Bass.. The Hunt for Big fish... Quest for the one... The hook and look is a neat concept. The worst... Bill Dance... does he sit cause he is always falling in? Roland Martin... the man endorsed the Helicopter lure... Nuff said. madfin shark tourney... the narator that thinks he is alfred freaking hitchcock.
