Why am i losing fish on a strike king red eye shad rattle trap?
All valid points made there. Makes sense. I just used to fish braid on cranks and traps and didn't have much luck on my hook up to land ratio. So i switched back and now have a great hook up to landing ratio. Granted, cranks and traps are not my strong point at all. They represent no more then 15% of my fishing, so i've still got a lot to learn. I honestly wasn't trying to step on your toes or prove your way of fishing was wrong so i appologize if i came across that way. Oh yeah, who are these fishermen that you speak of...are they supposed to be good or something ;D. Don't get smart with me

WHAT?????? Using that set up, at least for me, would be asking to never land a nice bass on a trap. Using a heavy rod is bad enough for trap fishing, but to be using braided line with it, which has no stretch, is a great recipe for tearing those treble hooks out left and right. More power to ya if this way of fishing works for you. For me though this make absolutely no logical sense at all I however do agree on the larger hook. I always switch out the hooks for a larger size. Especially the front one.

Problems setting the hook with jigs
Just try a couple and get a feel for them. They are all a little different. I landed on the BPS fluoro and like it alot.

Problems setting the hook with jigs
Just my 2 cents. Use 12lb Fluorocarbon not mono. Fluoro is low stretch making it easier to drive that hook in deep. Not to mention that it's also highly abrasive resistant, super sensitive & nearly invisible.

How far south do Small mouth range from?
Texoma is my home lake and we have some very good smallies in this lake........the lake record is a little over 7lbs. Texoma is about 60 miles north of Dallas on the Tx-Ok border...........great "little" pond (80,000 acres) come see us sometime. Yeah i had no idea there were smallies in that lake until last year while my dad and i were striper fishing. Caught a nice 2 1/2 pounder. Hit a pencil popper.

I don't know if you have a Gander Mountain near your. But @ mine they were having a 50% off all Native Sunglasses. I bought a pair of the "silencers" and i love them.

Best practical jokes
I can't remember exactly how to do this one but i'll try and remember cuz it's great. I've been on a mac for the last couple of years and this one is easier to pull off on a PC. 1.) You know how a PC has a power up Tone/music. Well what you do is download a, how can i put this in censored words, "erotic love making sound clip". After you have downloaded this sound clip you upload it onto a USB flash chip. 2.) Now go to a public library/lan cafe, or anywhere where there are multiple public computers and change that computers power on tone/music to your specifically downloaded "erotic love making sound clip". 3.) Once you have done this turn up volume and turn off computer. Move to another computer, preferably a good ways down, and wait for someone to turn that computer on. Without a doubt everyone in that computer lab will be staring at that person thinking that they are publicly looking at dirty things, and they will be doing everything possible to turn that dang thing off. P.S. You can make the sound clip anything you want. A clip of a loud yell or bang is really funny too. People are never expecting a really loud bang when they turn on a computer. The one i picked just happens to be the most awkward ensuing clip.

New PB
Gamakatsu Superline Spring Lock 1/4oz 6/0. If you want/need it to run a little deeper throw on a 1/2oz 6/0. Having the right hook on a hollow body swimbait is an absolute must.

DD yesterday and loads of fish today! Pics inside!
Good job on a 30 fish day. I don't care if they were 1/2lbs. 30 fish is 30 fish, and that's always fun.

Good Day at the Park
Awesome. You sir are a good man in my book. I don't care what anybody else says.
-
your number one bass catching bait!?!?! (lure you caught the most bass on all time)
All time has got to be an old fashioned single colorado bald spinner bait. However the 5" *** in watermelon red flake is catching up real quick.

Favorite lipless cranks.
Xr50 without a doubt. After getting out-fished by a my fishing buddy who had one tied on, I bought a couple and never looked back.

Good Day at the Park
Have you read the description to this SECTION?? " My Fishing Tournament or Outing What worked? What didn't? Ask for advice or just brag like the rest of us!" If you dont like the fact that I blurred out my backgrounds too bad. This section is based upon people coming on to SHOW OFF/BRAG about what there proud of right?? He Shots He Scores. HAHA The real question is if a member was having a really hard time catching fish on that lake, would you help him out by sharing a hot spot with him.

New PB
Most of the day we were using the shad. That's the color that I caught the majority of the fish on. Later in the evening, when it got a little darker, I switched to the firetiger and caught 3 more.
-
Good Day at the Park
Agreed. The majority of us members don't live anywhere near that lake for you to be worried about us steeling your precious spots. Nor would i want to go there when i live so close to Lake Fork. JK. I would love to go fishing there some time. Now as far as you day went, awesome job. Those are some beautiful fish.

How fast can bass swim?
No, you absolutely can not out-reel a bass. I'll never forget burning a buzzbait, just for fun, as fast as i could in my pond and a 4lbs bass chased it down like it was nothing. Actually scared me a bit cuz it finally took the buzzbait right at shore. So IMHO there is no way you can out-reel a bass.

Re: FINALLY!! A NEW PB! (PIC)
Congrats my man. Beautiful fish. HAWG. Just broke my PB a couple of days ago as well. Awesome feeling huh. Hard to guess the weight from that angle. Definitely over 7 1/2lbs though for sure.
