Just feel like bragging a little bit...My daughter learned how to ride a bike without training wheels for the first time today. I know there are more important things I have already done and many more important things I will need to teach her as she grows up but, this is one of those times I am feeling particularly "fatherly".

I agree with most of your point, however if part of the point of little league is to learn the basics, what exactly are the kids learning about base running? Even if it is legal, the strategy of just run is not going to work once they get past the beginning little league level. This sounds to me like a youth coach, coaching as if his career and reputation depend on his win-loss record.

I agree with leaving your gear at home. I took my daughter fishing for the first time on her second birthday. I did bring my gear. I don't think I was able to even get one cast in. Since then I don't bring anything with me, that was three years ago. I believe you will have more fun watching your son anyway.
