Need Inputs On All Electric Boat
I don't like a deep v cause they are the least stable.I have a semi v & love it. I'm 300+ lbs & I can stand on my deck & it's stable. An mv would be my choice if I had the money, but they are hard to find used. As far as the weight, most people that modify Jon boats exceed the weight rating. I'm not yelling you it's ok, but me & lots of others are not having any issues.I run 2 40 lb thrust trolling motors on it & it goes pretty good. Check out www.Tinboats.net. lots of good info there.

Jon Boat Deck
I used wood supports & plywood deck treated with Thompson's. Going on 4th season & it's holding up great I do plan on redoing with aluminum to save on weight.

Oklahoma Report Anyone?
Fishing has been pretty good so far. Water temps are high 50s & the bass are pretty active feeding. They haven't spawned yet, but should start soon. As far as the lakes you asked about,I haven't fished them but I know North Okc Bass Masters had a tourney at Fuqua last month so you can check their website & see what kind of success they had.A lot of lakes are down. Also check here for other info: http://www.outdoorsok.com/Oklahoma/Lakes. Hope this helps.

Fishing Oklahoma
Eufaula is big, but it is fun to fish. We fish 2, two day tournaments there every year. One in June & then in October.I love the lake myself. Lots of good bass & big crappie too.

Konawa Lake, Oklahoma! 04/07/2013.
I'm glad you had fun & caught some fish. That was my mistake. I forgot the small first cove. The one I was talking about is a pretty good size cove. The bass should've been up in those cat tails lining the bank. As far as the trolling motor goes, start tracing the wiring. Sounds like a short or a loose connection.

Hopefully our tourneys are close enough for you all to fish with us, I might even be willing to change the location of the classic to shorten your drive if you guys are going to fish with us.

Konawa Lake, Oklahoma! 04/07/2013.
You're welcome. You should catch some. We had 13 of 17 teams weigh in a 5 fish limit. 1st place had a little over 19 lbs & I know 4th & I think 5th was over 15.

Konawa Lake, Oklahoma! 04/07/2013.
Oh yeah, last year we caught a bunch of sand bass in the discharge channel. That's some fun.

Konawa Lake, Oklahoma! 04/07/2013.
Launch from the city boat ramp & go to the first cove south of the ramp & fish that cove. We caught our big ones on the south side of the cove. You can also the north side of the power plant & fish the discharge channel & the points at the edge of the channel. The coves just north of the east boat ramp are good as well. Where you see grass, there is fish. Hope you got a map of the lake so you can see what I'm talking about. If not, google Oklahoma water resources board. On their website they have a lake atlas. It has pretty much every lake on the state. Some are topo maps & you can view it online. good luck

How To Deal With Complete Beginners?
I agree with all these posts. Helping him pick out his equipment & showing him how to use it will be fun. As far as helping him catch a fish & enjoying it, I get more enjoyment when my wife catches fish more than I do when I catch one. It's a great feeling, specially when I know she is learning what to throw, where to throw it, & how to throw it. You're a good man for doing this for him. You never know what kind of impact this can have on him.

Konawa Lake, Oklahoma! 04/07/2013.
Fishing was good there a couple weeks ago. We finished 2nd in our tourney there & won big bass with a 6lb-4oz bass & we had another that weighed 4.5 lbs. Caught on plastics.

Where Does Your Lake Rank? Mine Is.....
Lake Konowa, Ok is number 29. Just fished a tourney there 2 weeks ago & finished 2nd. I know it has good fish, but never would've guessed it would make this list. Arbuckle Lake, number 56 is a great bass lake. Had my best day there. Caught my PB twice in the same tournament.

Small Boat Bass Club In Oklahoma
There is a start. We only have 3 boats so far. You 2 just adopt our rules & start an eastern division with 2 boats. There may be a couple from western Arkansas that might want to join. They are on another board i'm on. Your drive is about 1.5 hrs away from the majority of our tourneys. I'm 1 hr to 1.5 hrs away from them, so your drive isn't much further, except the classic on Arbuckle.

Small Boat Bass Club In Oklahoma
psperofrmancehorses, there is always jon boats for sale around here. Be glad to have ya if you decide to get one. gripnrip, our tournaments may be too far to make it worth while for you to travel to. It would be cool if there was a division in the east & we could have a state championship at the end of the year.

New Bass Club In Oklahoma
Thanks Long Mike. It will be different not running with a gas motor, but I like the fact that if someone wants to fish a tourney all the have to be able to afford is a jon boat, trolling motor, & a livewell set up.
