  1. Big Tom is probably correct, but all i could afford were a pair of $25 glassefrom BPS. They say xps on them. They do a good job but I have wondered about more expensive ones.
  2. Join a club as a non-boater. You will learn to launch, load, and all about a bass boat first hand.
  3. Learn how to throw plastics and crankbaits. That is where I would start.
  4. longmire has some huge bass in it and the crappie is good there as well.
  5. get a locking ball as well. the horseshoe shaped lock idea for the trailer is a good idea.
  6. i got an online quote from progressive at $100 for liability only $25k-$50k-$10k. i have a 14ft boat with a 9.9 and valued at $1500 full coverage was $235 a year.
  7. spraycrew, nice fish. how big is your boat? thanks
  8. i agree. i have a 14ft semi v also. very stable boat. two fat guys can stand and fish. the boat wont flip over cause if you lean far enough you would fall in before the boat went over.

i dont agree with any club forcing any nonboater to pay. it is common courtesy for a nonboater to offer to help cover expenses. the problem is common courtesy hardly exsists in our society today. i wouldnt take money from a nonboater, but if they arent willing to help cover the cost i dont want them in my boat.
  10. MY 2 cents, you will be fine. If the boat you buy doesnt have trailer brakes you can have them installed for added security if you choose. Stopping the boat is more of a concern than pulling. Ask your car dealer if the pathfinder comes with a towing package. If so, it should come with a trans cooler. I have a 1999 chevy 1500 2wd with a v6 and i tow in overdrive all the time. If you notice the transmission constantly downshifting out of overdrive, then take it out of overdrive and run it in drive.
  11. thanks guys. im pretty sure im not getting 5500 rpms out of the 9.9 and i think it sits too low in the water.
  12. If it were me, I would get a couple 6'6" medium heavy rods with a fast tip and use Bass Pro Shops xps flourocarbon line in 12-17 lb range.
  13. I know the trolling motors will not get the boat on plane but neither will the 9.9 johnson that i have. My boat is a 14ft semi v. What I'm asking is will the boat go faster with the 9.9 than with the two trolling motors? They way I intepreted what I read was that top hull speed is the same regardless of the engine size. I know this may be a dumb question but it seems hard to believe that 2 trolling motors would be as fast as the 9.9 even though neither will get the boat on plane.
  14. so does that mean that my two tm will power the boat the same speed the 9.9 will or am I interpreting this wrong. I really dont see how this would be possible, but i'm not sure. Thanks for the reply
  15. not sure if it will work but you might consider steelflex. http://fascoepoxies.com or 305-821-9441. talk to Jerry. he is a good guy and can tell you if it will work or if the have another product.
  16. Somewhere i read that a boat can only go like 5 mph without getting on plane. If thats the case then I can do that with my two trolling motors and not run my 9.9. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm a non-boater and I pay entry fee and I bring lunch and snacks. And sometimes a little extra whatever it may be.
  18. Your boat looks like a deep"v" hull. I have a semi "v" that I decked the front and rear and two people can stand and fish fine. I will tell you this, I will fall in the water before my boat tips over. In the pic of the boat upside down, you can see how flat the bottom is.
  19. Bill Dance is by far the most knowledgable bass fisherman alive. Yes he fishes his own private lake and they only show him catching the big ones, but he explains all the details of fishing. The wheres, whys and hows of different fishing senarios. I personally, do not even pay attention to the type of bait he uses. Mainly just where he is fishing and why.
  20. thx. im already there. just thought i would put a topic here incase there was members here that do not get on tinboats.
