estimated price for jon boat modification
I have about $400 or so in mine and I used all wood. Aluminum is better but that cost would have been about twice as much. I have a few pics here somewhere, I will see if I can find them. Here is the link to my boat.http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1246719121/0 I now have the back deck done, not just a bench back there.

decking my boat
I used 3/4" plywood and a combination of 2x2s and 2x4s for the bracing. I weigh 330 lbs and it is very solid. The added weigh didnt make the boat sit too low in the water. DO NOT use pressure treated plywood and you dont need marine grade either. I personally wouldnt coat the wood with fiberglass, jmo. I used plain plywood and coated it with thompsons water seal. I can post some pics if you would like.

contemplated pulling the plug and swimming back to the truck
i still trying to get my tri haul going. several years ago i blow either a ring or rod in the motor. so i bought my friends old motor that i know for a fact runs just been two years since it has to know not getting nothing to turn over. first starter was bad when i did jumper test so i put my old starter on. to still no firing but does try to turn over when i do jumper test now. i think it has to be electrical problem doing with the ignition wiring either control box or the motor. right now i took a break from it and i got my truck back on the road. paid over 1,000 dollars just to get it fixed and pass inspection, to getting a jon boat buying a trolling motor and a depth finder to have the depth finder turn out being defective to having my truck go down i think my carburetor is going on truck and they run in the $600 for a rebuilt one. i dont want to try junk yard cause never know how good they are. i also got a serious oil leak ima try to fix today. but man its never ending story with the truck. and no truck no boat. luckily i was able to drive it around yesterday with no problems so i might try to take it out and go fishing tomorrow. luckily truck is running cause coming home from work i had two blow out on my car and only one spare.. the car still sitting at gas station. so my mistake luck is a 24 hr thing. like at work i smashed my ring finger all to hell tearing away skin and taking nail clean off. what year and make of truck? possibly get an aftermarket carb for a couple hundred new

my boat
thanks. i have about $55 in wood, $45 for carpet, $15 for paint and primer for inside, $65 for steelflex epoxy, $25(i think) for switchpanel, probably close to another $100 for misc hardware and paint preparation supplies. thats a good estimate. i have most receipts somewhere. here is a couple pics of the wood bracing. I might have suggested treated lumber but you can still seal it ?? Good looking job! DO NOT USE TREATED WOOD! the treated wood has chemicals in it that dont get along with aluminum. i used thompsons water seal on all my wood.

Weight of boat and trailer?
you should be fine towing that boat with your jeep. my uncle used to tow his 20ft procraft with a jeep. his was heavy though, so it could be hard to stop if he had to make a sudden stop.

modifying a jon boat
heres how my progress is so far. I have about $300 in it. that includes seats and pedastals that arent in pics. I still need to wire it and finish rear platform and then carpet and I will be done with inside. Then for the outside, I will use fasco's steelflex epoxy (the regular epoxy) with a blue pigment and do the outside of the boat.
