  1. I like to split the flappers on Sweet Beavers, Brush Hogs etc.
  2. Do you see any reason why a weighted hook with a keeper spike would not work? It would eliminate having to retie every time you needed to put on a fresh craw. http://www.***.com/descpageMUSWRMHK-MPLP.html
  3. The GYCB website suggests putting a florida style bullet sinker in front of the swim senko to actually attach the weight to the plastic. They claim better action than simply pegging a plain bullet to the nose of the bait. Since we rarely use this bait weightless, that has been what we have been doing until this week. We got some Owner Sled Heads and have been using them with the swim senko and have been enjoying very good results. They run true with absolutely no twist even at a fairly fast rate of retrieve. If you fish the swim senko with a weight, give the Sled Head a try.
  4. Not that I'm a stauch Shimano man or anything, but the ones I have have never given me a lick of trouble and I would not hesitate to buy another.
  5. I have 3, but they never leave the house (garage actually). I use them to store lure building stuff, old lures etc.
  6. X2. I've tried a number of different flouro's with unsatisfactory results, but the 100% from Berkley has performed very well for me.
  7. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and thought it was well worth the $. I'm fairly new to Largemouth Bass fishing though, so any info on the subject, especially from such a reputable source as the Lindners, is good stuff for me.
  8. A while back someone posted an easy way to make hooks weedless by using rubber bands. The post cited a particular type of rubber band and a place or two where they were readily available. Despite several searches, I have been unable to find that particular post. Any help on the subject or a link to the original post would be much appreciated.
  9. You might be waiting a long time for 50 packs. Brett announced he was doing away with 50 packs on the new website.
  10. We use it for soft jerk baits because it sinks which helps get the bait to run a little deeper.
  11. I bought one of each but haven't put anything in them yet. I'm still trying to make up my mind about tackle storage issues. I do like the versatility these boxes offer.
  12. I have some of the salt water Fat IKA's and they do feel a bit firmer than the regular Fat IKA's. I also have some Kinami Palms and if they are thicker than the Fat IKA's, you would need a micrometer to measure the difference. They look the same to me.
  13. Counting fly rods and Musky rods, over 30 I'm sure.
  14. Glenn, What part of the world do you live in? Even in MN the water temps are well into the 60's at least.
  15. I've found that the small channel lock pliers that came in the old ignition tool kits work very well for these adjustments. They have a firmer hold than the needlenose pliers I've tried and it's easier to tell when you've actually moved the eye of the lure.
  16. If it's like the Quantum real I have, the little lever under the level wind is to release the side plate.
  17. Seems there are always folks that will buy anything just because it is no longer available.
  18. There is a new product on the market called "Syncork". It is a synthetic material made to replace cork since good cork is getting harder and harder to get and getting more expensive. I just had a Tennessee spinning handle put on an old rod that the cork had finally gotten so bad it needed to be replaced. The syncork is black in color, but other than that, seems very similar to cork in feel and sensitivity. It is supposed to last forever and costs about the same as the better cork.
  19. I agree Leon. I went through the exact same scenario last Fall. If I want to "walk the dog" the SkitterWalk is the bait I reach for.
  20. If you can go during the week and early in the AM, Turtle Lake has an excellent population of Largemouth. Lake gets a lot of recreational use though, so you have to go early and on a weekday.
  21. Had the same problem... I'm new to Wacky rigs, but I've had no hook setting problems and minimal worm damage using the above weedless wacky hooks with an o-ring.
  22. The above hook is the one I have been using. While not totally weedless, it works pretty well.
  23. Mississippi River - Minnesota - 6lb. 1 oz.
  24. Can't wait for RW's response to this post.
  25. If there are enough open spots in a slop field, we sometimes use a YUM Crawbug instead of a Horny Toad type bait. We buzz it across the slop and then allow it to drop in the open pockets. Hits have come anytime, but most come on the fall in the pockets.
