  1. I talked with a Verado owner last weekend at the hotel,he had a 250 on his boat.....he says it is terrible on gas and when he bought it from the factory, his linkage was hooked up wrong and during his first ride with it,he was stuck in reverse, going in circles. Needless to say,he was not too happy about it.But he said that after all that was corrected, the only thing he could complain about was gas mileage.....but what does he expect? it's a 250....do any 250's get great gas mileage?
  2. I had this happen to me yesterday afternoon. There was 10-12 bass hanging just under the surface in the back of a pocket.....I got in too close before I saw them so they knew I was there and wouldnt even look at anything I threw. First thing I did was back out of there and gave them a whole bunch of space.....fished the bank around for a few minutes (5-10) then moved back just within casting distance of the back of the pocket. My first cast went all the way back to the logjam past the fish which was what I wanted,I slowly pulled the Super Fluke into the water and started twitching it near the surface. After about the 5th twitch one of the bass slammed it....but after boating him,the rest of the bass were spooked. So I left the area and came back about 15 minutes later and boated another the same way.I feel like I could've kept going back and getting one each trip back but it was time to go.......(Super Fluke color was "white ice")
  3. squid, what is the water temp that you will be looking at?
  4. Yes,it's a 21' Gambler..225 Evinrude.I need to get a bigger pic.I am running a 3 blade and when I get trimmed all the way up it is pulling hard to the right.I probably wont change props just yet although that would probably help a little.Glenn,it does not have a hydraulic jackplate yet, just a 8" manual. The hydraulic plate and trim tabs should be here within a week. Can't wait!
  5. Yeah, thats what someone else here in town said also but they werent exactly sure which way to adjust it.....if I adjust it the wrong way the first try,I may only be able to ride in circles to the right....LOL...the pull is that bad.I'd like to get it right the first time if at all possible. Thanks for the reply.
  6. I'd just wait unitl it rains and the water gets stained up and go back with a spinnerbait and rake 'em out ONE BY ONE!!Thats what I would do! But in the mean time, since you are able to see them, the water must be fairly clear and if they are that close to the bank, you should be able to take them with a jig.Or if you can pick up some of the small MadMan craw tubes, they should draw you a bite.Dont throw the 4 or 5 inch ones, keep it small.Same with the jig.And make sure you cast way past them and work it slow into their area so it just looks like a craw passing thru. And dont ever forget to throw a super fluke for bass near the surface, especially in the morning before the sun gets up high.Good luck, let us know what happens.
  7. My boat pulls really hard to the right......is there something I can do with that little "fin" above my prop? Does anyone know what is the correct way to adjust it? It looks to be dead center now......do I adjust it right or left?Leave it alone? Help a brother out!
  8. hey bassmaster, I fished Gaston this weekend and found water in the 54-59 range and not the first fish on the bed.Or even around a spot where a bed should be.You are near Gaston correct?
  9. I agree Glenn.....I bought a Gambler because I wanted 1. more speed 2. more deck 3. more storage but,I knocked myself out of the Ranger Cup incentive program by buying a Gambler. And through talking to various people in the bass fishing world,Triton is handing out sponsorships like there is no tomorrow and it only makes sense to buy one of their boats and get a better shot at being sponsored by them.I fished Lake Gaston this weekend and 75% of the boats in the tournament were Tritons, obviously they are making a good impression on a whole bunch of people.
  10. thanks for all the help Raul......any chance I can make it bigger?
  11. Get you a 5 gallon bucket and drill small holes all around it,then fill it with dry dog food and throw it in near your honey hole. The dog food slowly flows out and bluegill and catfish seem to like the dog food.(Be sure to put the top back on the bucket before you chuck it in the lake.)Also be sure to attach a rope to it so you can use it again. The maggot thing sounds revolting but if it works,it works.
  12. Glenn, I tried out a Z like you suggested but couldnt justify spending $42 grand on a boat.....although I will probably buy one after they are out a year or two and depreciate into my price range. I went with the Gambler just for the mere fact that I like a Gambler.....the huge deck, massive storage and fast smooth ride. But thats just temporary for a year or two,I really like the Rangers also....they hold their value so well and are in my opinion the best built/best overall quality boats available. My dad has always told me that Rangers are the Harley Davidsons of bass boats....I believe that.
  13. JT,not to get into a "pulling" contest but there are others here that have been driving boats just as long or longer than you. That being said,I could probably get used to driving a Triton if I did it on a regular basis.I was just voicing my opinion about a boat that I have driven and also about Triton boats that I have riden in.And by the way,my boat driving skills are just fine, thanks.
  14. I have a Tahoe 4 door....love it,cant tell I'm towing anything.I have used the 4 wheel drive on one of the local ramps(its real real steep)
  15. Thanks for the info SBN....and does that mean you are a Gambler fan also? I agree about the Tritons, you couldnt GIVE me a Triton.A guy in my club has a TR18 with a 150 and the chine walk is unbelievable, just on the 150.I also drove a 21X and overall it was a nice boat but the ride was horrible.I figured a bigger heavier boat like the 21 would be a little better than the 18,boy was I wrong. I understand that Triton's are still a fairly new company and that they are the big boat sponsor for BASS now and it's easier to break into the big time if you already own one of the sponsors boats and can have an honest opinion about their boats but......
  16. Glenn,I used your link in the FAQ's but it didnt help at all. I have my pics loaded into my computer in the Kodak easy share file/folder.I need to know how to get it into my username picture and also how to post a pic into a posted message.I have tried everything.Help! If this post gets deleted, just hit my private message thingy and help a brother out.Thanks.
  17. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will, any tips on that? I have the pics in a Kodak Easy Share file in my computer if that matters, just cant get them to show up on here. I tried doing it with my username picture also but got nothing.
  18. SHELOR Outdoors, just down the road from the big car lots,go under the bridge and it's on the right up on the hill (old Hill's building).....check 'em out,you won't leave empty handed,I guarantee it!
  19. Oh yeah,I forgot to mention that if you are ever in Christiansburg you should check out the Shelor Outdoor Motor Mile....they have everything a serious fisherman needs and the prices arent really all that bad. They have Zoom,Berkley,Yamamoto,Yum,Cabin Creek,Lunker Lure jigs,War Eagle spinnerbaits,Rapala,Norman,Kistler rods,American Rodsmiths,Thunder shad's etc......I just scratched the surface, their inventory and selection is awesome. Its worth the 35 minute drive.
  20. catnip, you have a private message. Tackle is limited around Roanoke for sure.Dicks has been getting in different lines of stuff lately and has put Wal Mart off my tackle shopping list altogether.Melvin at the Minnow Pond has just about anything you need but of course he is high......$8.19 for a Rapala DT-4???I don't understand??? He's a good ole dude, been dealing with him since he started down on Hardy Rd. but d**n his prices are going thru the roof lately. But he also knows that when you need a couple more of those lucky crankbaits you been whippin 'em with, you will pay that extra money to have them.
  21. In response to the senko diving too fast....when a senko falls thru a school of shad,it looks like one that has been hit and is injured, floating down to his death, this is an easy meal for any bass hanging under the school of baitfish.(which they do all the time) We catch alot of stripers this way too, with bucktails.Just cast into the school and let it sink.(But hold your rod real tight)
  22. Well fellas,I bought a Gambler. 21 foot Evinrude 225 red hull, black stripe, red carpet THANKS for all the input....
  23. Can you get keys made for Perko locks?I cant find much info about getting a set made.In the mean time,I hope nobody steals my stuff!!
  24. I now have a P & P Fish Level,I used to own a cul-m-rite system but the fish level works just as good for $150+ less....
  25. Thanks for the input gambler,I need to find out what the proper compression is for an Evinrude 200.... I've searched the internet a little but cant find anything but where to order manuals.Got any ideas?
