  1. Awesome post Mr. Roberts. I will keep your advice in mind next time I'm fishing.
  2. What a great day. It's always fun to take the lil' ones fishing.
  3. What a beast . Keep up the good work! I hope to catch one like that this spring
  4. Thanks for taking the time to read and/or respond. Your comments are very helpful and inspiring. I can't wait until Friday to get back on hawg highway with my uncle followed up by a trip to bass pro. With any luck I hope to catch a few monsters on my brothers rod! I can't wait until my basspro has been completed.
  5. Thought I would share a heartfelt experience with you guys. I have recently lost my brother who was my longtime fishing partner. He was someone that I fished with more than anyone else other than my father and we won a couple fishing derbies in Atlanta when we were young. I have some of his fishing gear and one setup in particular I make sure that I use every trip. In some way I feel that he is there with me when I am using his rod/reel and I have yet to get skunked when using his pole. I even named a special hole after him on the Alabama river which is near his birthplace. Though I have always been very passionate about fishing, I have enjoyed fishing even more since he has passed. Maybe in some ways I feel as though I am honoring his memory and when I am fishing I reflect on all the great memories we shared or maybe because I realize that you need to make the most of every second in life because you never now when you will take your last breath or catch your last fish. I guess this is part of what makes fishing so special to me. Not only is it great to catch fish and enjoy mother nature but it is friends and family that make the sport so special and so much fun I was wondering if any of you have a similar story you would like to share. Best of luck to everyone on the water 8-) R.I.P. MTM
  6. Man that sucks. At least we are fortunate to live in an area to fish year round. I love to visit J'ville but have yet to fish for bass there. The kingfish bite always entices me too much. I could really go for some Bono's or Larry's giant subs right now. Good luck on the water!
  7. I live < 1 hour from Pensacola and unfortunately there are no smallmouth around :'( . I grew up in Cutler Ridge by Homestead and we would catch peacock bass in the canals. They are a blast and will almost yank the rod out of your hand. My uncle lives in Panama and he catches over 100 in a matter of hours with his clients. I need to get down there to bend a rod. Where are you going to move to on the panhandle?
  8. You will not have to look very far for peacock bass in Miami-Dade county. I grew up in Cutler Ridge south of Miami and we caught them all the time on beetle spins (black/ yellow stripes). You may not catch any bigguns but you will probaly catch a lot. Let me tell you those are some hard fightin' SOBs. Just find a canal and watch out for gators. You may even catch a oscar! Hope that this was helpful.
  9. I have > 40 hours on my reel and it works great! I am very pleased with the reel, especially considering the price. I have found that the twitchin bar is great after you get a light bite. Almost every time they run away with it after you hit that bar.

New member here. I'm live in Loxley but usually fish the Alabama river near Montgomery. The last couple of trips have been real succesful but COLD. I am looking for some places to fish in Baldwin county if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. I would be glad to split gas if anyone wants to get out on the water in Mobile or Baldwin county.
  11. buzzbait anf hammerhead- Gooday to you both. I live in loxley and am searching for spots to fish in baldwin county. Do you know of any lakes or ponds in the area? Also, I am looking for someone to fish with as I do not own a boat. I would be glad to share the cost of gas. Would either of you be interested?
  12. good day to all that read- I am new to the forum and am looking for some spots to fish in Mobile and Baldwin county. I have grown tired of catching dinks in grandad's pond and need to catch more and bigger fish. Ultimately, it would be great to find someone to fish with as I do not own a boat. Don't worry, i am not a novice and you would not have to tie my lure or remove a snarl from my reel. I would be glad to share or pick up the cost of gas. Good luck on the water!!
