  1. Thanks guys!!
  2. $5 dollars a day to fish and only on certain days sounds like some BULL$&!# Is that the policy of the place you fish or a local or state law? btw, nice fish!
  3. Just got back from spending a week in Montgomery with my uncle. The fishing was kind of slow but I did manage to catch some nice spots. I am utterly amazed at how hard these fish fight compared to largemouths. I loved how they rip the whole worm from the hook or only leave an inch or so left.
  4. unfortunately no there is not.... lake shelby was flooded with saltwater in '04 from Hurricane Ivan and has not recovered... The only public place I know of for bass is cooper's lake in Rosinton off HWY 64 its just a little NE of Robertsdale. I would suggest getting a 3-day saltwater liscense and fishing Perdido Pass in Orange Beach at night. Sheepshead, reds, and the occasional blue are stacked in there. I would use live shrimp or cut mullet. Off the beach you can catch reds, pompano and if you are lucky, you may pick up a Cobia. Top gun tackle next to winn dixie has live bait in GS/OB area and should be open late. how long will you be in town? I live in Baldwin county, north of the beach.
  5. I will be attending a job fair in Decatur on May 3rd and was looking for some input on the area. Are there any sites that are easily accessed by land that are productive for bass? Is wheeler lake a productive area year round? What about the Tennessee river? Any guides you would recomend? Any comments about the area in general? Thank you in advance for your response.
  6. Alabama bass LOVE watermelon senkos
  7. i have found lots of those ;D If you have ever seen a possum's teeth up close i would like to know how on earth they caught that thing.
  8. I have not been to Venice, but I do live near the gulf (AL) and I can tell you the reds are going nuts right now. The real big boys can be found near the oil rigs. During this time of year it is not uncommon to catch fish that only exceed 25lbs off the rigs. Good luck.
  9. just picked up a pack to try this week. Don't know if you have ever been close to a snake in the wild, but they SMELL JUST LIKE A REAL SNAKE. I think they have great potential!
  10. great job! Using the light stuff can be a blast.
  11. I have used google maps to view a satellite image of my granddad's pond and it had a similar color. However, it does not look like that in person. Maybe the picture is a little deceiving. Give it a try and good luck !
  12. if you are fishing from a boat gators are not a problem unless they go after a fish you have on the line. Watch out for snakes near the trees as they may fall into the boat. On land I would watch out for both VERY CAREFULLY
  13. I like to fish them with a splitshot 3' above the worm
  14. I would suggest that you try to sweeten the deal. Tell that ol' lady that you will cut her grass 2x a month if you can fish there everyday. ;D
  15. I fish all my soft plastics on C-rig with great success from senkos to lizards. I think with a c-rig that you are able to present your weapon of choice with a much more realistic presentstion and the bass feels less resistance when he picks up your bait.
  16. Thanks to a sweet lady @ work, I have gained access to a new pond. After 6 visits I have caught close to 100 bass, which were ALL RELEASED. Most have been caught on watermelon chartreuse lizards and thanks to info I learned on this site I have caught a lot on watermelon black fleck senkos, which I did not previously know about. I look forward to future visits. Any guess on the weight . Only down side is that there are a TON of cottonmouths around the pond. I saw one yesterday that was as big around as my wrist and > 4" Hopefully I will see him again so that I can treat him to a nice lead injection ;D
  17. great fish... keep up the good work !!
  18. I am hooked on scent. While I believe that I would get bites from the same fish without scent, I feel that the scent encourages the bass to hold the worm and "chew" on it a lil' bit longer. That extra time increases the number of fish I catch. Also, I think that if fish do not see or feel the movement of your worm, they may smell the scent and track down your worm. I like B.A.N.G combo and the garlic scents.
  19. bass blasters pain in the bass hawg heathens lunker legends toad tamers masterbaiters ;D
  20. because bass remind me of myself.... fat, lazy, and opportunistic ;D
  21. I think that I am really good at fishing soft plastics, especially lizards.
