  1. I like the trokar off sets.
  2. I am with Tom. Owners twist locks are my choice.
  3. During a tournament I might get a little tight lipped but in general I have no trouble sharing.
  4. Are you fishing from a boat?
  5. I postponed my review as long as I could to try and get as much time with the bait as possible before I wrote my review. I picked up the slow sink in light trout at Fishermans Warehouse in Sacramento. I was hoping to get all three ROF's but at the time all they had was the slow sink. It was refreshing to see a price point that is affordable. At first glance this bait made me think of the Castaic Platinum but I would later see that they are not even close to the same. As far as visual realism goes the size and shape are great but the paint job when compared to other baits is lacking in my opinion. However the color is not a deal breaker for me. I own plenty of baits where I thought the paint job looked like crap but have been good performers and have caught plenty of fish. The eyes look good but appear to be glued on. Mine are still on there but I am concerned that will not last. Only time will tell. When I get a new swimbait I generally head over to my brothers apartment complex to test it out in the pool. However there has been a recent ban on fishing in the pool. So I headed to the kitchen sink to see how the bait sits in the water at rest. I was impressed, it sits slightly nose down and perfectly upright like a fish naturally resting on the bottom. This is a attribute found in quality baits. On the fall it rides slightly nose down with a subtle action. Not as impressive as some other baits on the market but not bad either. The line through design with a hook pocket is genius and it comes with a nice stout hook that is sharp and performs fairly well. Being that I am almost never satisfied with stock hardware I have been playing around with different hooks and have not totally decided on what is best yet. I am leaning towards a #2 Gami round bend because of how it sits in the bait and does not extend past the sides of the bait. I think it will be less inclined to hang up and wont hinder the hook up ratio. But for now the stock hook will work. What impressed me the most is the way this bait swims. It has a very seductive snake like swim. There is nothing that looks mechanical it is very fluid, smooth and natural. It performs well from a slow crawl all the way up to burning it. It does not seem to blow out at all. Which makes it versatile. I did not get to throw it around timber or heavy rocks but I will say this is fished very well through the weeds. The line thru also seems to be pretty durable. I have managed to catch a few fish on it and had a few bite the tail where I could visually see them take it. I deliberately swung hard expecting to rip it in half and it stayed intact. To be honest I didn't really even see teeth marks. My over all opinion of the line thru is that it is a great bait that will definitely fit into my arsenal. I wish I would have jumped at these earlier.
  6. What is amazon prime?
  7. nice fish captain
  8. Nice it ships in 1-3 months. You might get it by Christmas.
  9. Is that San Pablo?
  10. Sorry I didn't see your post above mine that answered a few of my questions. If you have ever watched bass heard shad and blow through them you would know those insignificant shad are no so insignificant. They generally have a mouth full. There are several ways you can attack suspended fish. One way is a swimbait. If you have enough drawing power to pull the suspended fish in to cover or structure often times you can get them to commit . Glide baits are huge when it comes to this. Another way is a float-n-fly. You can set the desired depth and put it right on the fish and let it sit there. You can also swim the fly at the right depth. You would be amazed how effective this bait is. Its not just a winter time bait. Flutter spoons and dropshot work well on suspended fish also. This is generally a vertical presentation. You can use your depth finder like a video game. Fishing a crank bait super fast can work well on summer suspenders also.
  11. What type of lake? When you say 50ft of water is that in the middle of the lake or near the shore? Is there any cover or structure near by? Are they inactive or are they chasing shad?
  12. Can you say swimbait.
  13. I am not that surprised. New Melones has been kicking out big spots for a few years now. There are several other lakes that are capable of breaking the record. Like Shasta and Berryessa. Berryessa is the home lake for the club that I am affiliated with. We do projects with the BOR and fish and game. I know they have shocked the world record several times.
  14. If you see a white powerstroke dumping black smoke towing a blue and white champion it might be me.
  15. I don't buy that small bass don't eat crawdads for one minute. I have caught my fair share of 1lbers on jigs and I have seen the evidence in the live well to many times.
  16. OBS 7.3L Powerstroke
  17. Med Hvy rod with good parabolic bend and 65lb braid. If I need to I can always put on a leader which would most likely be 17lb fluorocarbon.
  18. That delta rip rap is tough to fish from the bank you are going to loose some jigs. I would stay with a good floro line around 20lb. Braid is going to get cut up on those rocks unless you have a leader. I would go with bass patrol jigs around 1/2 oz. They are pretty cheap at $1.99, fish well through the rocks and have good hooks.
  19. I have found that the same baits that work in the day light work at night also.
  20. I use a med heavy rod with 65lb braid. Use a barrel swivel on the split ring otherwise line twist can wreck your braid in one day.
  21. If I had to pick just one it would be deps ss 250. I have had ridiculous results with it. Its a flat out fish magnet. The only problem is that one bait is not enough to cover all of the water column.
  22. So many key things in this article.
  23. The current positions the fish in current breaks behind cover and structure. With out the current they will spread out more. I have had plenty of good days punching early but as the sun gets higher overhead the bite generally gets better.
  24. I use light wire hooks on finesse presentations like dropshot, nail weighted trickworm, dartheads, shakeyheads and some of my jigs.

Bobbys perfect by Snagproof with a few mods is hands down the best frog I have ever fished. It is one of the harder frogs to fish but when you get it down it flat out performs. In fact I am probably going to sell off my spros. I also like the R2 sea spittin wa when it comes to popping frogs.
