  1. If bass got to be 100lbs jet skis would be like buzz baits.
  2. All I can go by is what I have seen. I don't get into the bait making politics, the he said, she said crap. Who knows what is true? And why doesn't anyone who was supposedly damaged sue? When I first started throwing big baits Bill was just about the only one out there that was willing to share when everyone else was tight lipped. What I have seen of the attacks and accusations that are made, he politely and professionally addresses. He does not run and hide as far as I have seen. People have been taking pop shots at him for a long time. Mainly because he is so dominate on the tournament scene, he must be cheating. From where I am sitting I have seen him do way more things to help the community than harm it.
  3. He probably would sign it. Bill is a stand up guy.
  4. All that structure is, is the bottom contour. Everything else is cover. I think it was Bill Murphy that explained it like so... If you were to take a metal bowl(representing the lake), turn it upside down and hit it with a hammer putting dents into it. When you turned it back over those dents would represent the lake bottom or the structure of the lake. The elements of structure that bass relate to are points, humps, ridges, creek channels and flats.

Football, grass and the unlisted darthead.
  6. I catch swimbait fish on the CA delta with only a foot or two of visibility. Personally I have had better luck with baits that are noisy or that move alot of water in low viz conditions. One of my go to baits is a trashfish. The sick fish is the same mold as the trashfish. Berkley partnered up with Little creeper to mass produce the bait. I have not tried the sick fish but it seemed to me that the bait was more ridged than the hand poured trashfish.
  7. Thats because its out of print. He recently told me that he has an ebook that will be comming out soon that will cover even more than what the BBZ book did.
  8. I have tried a few brands and always end up comming back to paycheck baits.
  9. Bill Murphys book and Bill Siemantles book are both must reads.
  10. I don't ask permission or try to justify what I spend my money on. Maybe thats why Im not married.
  11. I like the gami wicked whacky hooks for bubba shotting.
  12. Don't place preconcieved limitations on how a dropshot can be fished. Take the advise you get and expand on it. A dropshot is not only a finesse presentation, it can be power presentation also. For instance the idea of shaking the bait to much me be great advise today but poor advise tomorrow. We all know the power of the senko. But it is a PITA to fish unweighted in deep water. One way to accomplish this is on a dropshot. Say your in 20 ft of water and the fish are hugging the bottom, run 5-6ft between the hook and the weight. The dropshot weight allows you quickly get through the unproductive water maximizing your fishing time in the productive water. This is just one of many things. Can you puch with a dropshot? Can you catch suspended fish? Can you dropshot a swimbait? Ask yourself effective questions and refine what works for you.
  13. Your hooks are inferior. When I started throwing the a-rig I used light wire hooks and they just dont cut it. They are fine for smaller fish but when you start getting in to fish that are 5 pounds plus they will bend out. I have been using the picasso smart mouth jig heads with good results. Has a 2x gami hook.

I do a ton of water foul hunting in the rain along with fishing. As far as breathable rain gear goes there are only two products I buy as of right now. Thats Columbia's Omnitech and Goretex. I have wasted so much money on other stuff its ridiculous. Most products last a season and thats about it.
  15. Rangerboy I sent you a private message.

My number one small swimbait is a trashfish rigged with a 8/0 beast.
  17. Optimum makes good swimbaits. They are fish catchers. The line thru baits are great for fishing the upper, middle and lower middle of the water column. They will hang up if you try to fish them on the bottom.
  18. Fishermans warehouse. I will post a link but they may take it down. http://www.fishermanswarehouse.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_vendor_list&v=119
  19. I use 20lb power pro with a floro leader. I don't have to deal with line twist and the sensitiviy is great. I fish as deep as 80ft with this set up.
  20. Is it a 12inch minimum on a flat board for the contest?
  21. I understand the thrill of light tackle and I am not trying to convince anyone to change. I just want to clarify a few things, there seem to be some misconceptions out there. Throwing a 3.5oz bait with the right gear and technique is no more labor intensive than throwing a crankbait all day. Secondly over the course of time I spend far less on swimbaits then I do on plastics. I have quite a few baits that I have had since I started actively throwing swimbaits 4 years ago. For instance one of them is an MS Slammer. I payed about 30 bucks for it. I spent far more than that on sweet beavers over the last year alone.
  22. I agree with WRB. In many cases with the GY set up the fish will hook themselves and the learning curve as to what a subtle bite feels like will be accelerated.
  23. If you can only afford one pair, copper or amber lenses are the way to go. They are the best all around lens for all conditions. Just make sure they are polarized.
  24. Wish they were Labs but the are great looking pups.
