I didn't realize that this bait was fished like a jig either. Missed that somehow. I googled it and it says it good for 10-15 fish then you have to replace the tails. The price point I saw was $10.99. That does not sound cheap either when you have to buy replacement tails. Its an interesting concept. I have fished mission fish and other swimbaits on the bottom stroking them like a jig with some success.

You don't need permission on public water ways period. If someone is fishing or swimming off of their dock use some common sense and go around them or give them the proper space. Otherwise its fair game. The biggest concern is damaged property. As long as your not bouncing a jig off of someones boat or playing bumper boats Most people do not care. There are all ways going to be some a-holes out there that think they own the air you breath. These are the ones I give the California howdy to and keep fishing.

Same one I use. I have been trying the phat frog but do not have enough fish on it yet to say I like it better. I have had one hell of a time getting anything going this year on the top water bite. Punching has been crazy though.

If I fish a spot and do well I am not going to forget it. Weather I have a GPS or not, it will not matter. I learned years ago how to use land marks and I will find it again. This is before every Tom, Dick and Hairy had a GPS and you had to find stuff the old way using compass headings and land marks. Besides most stuff can be found using the multitude of tools available today. Where I see there being a problem in where your in a tournament situation someone puts you fish and then you tell your new partner the next day and fish it with out permission. But if you fish as a co-angler and go back to a spot a week later more power to ya. That is why you join as a co-angler. To learn. If you ask effective questions about a location you may be able to replicate it down the road. This BS argument about "my water" always seems to pop up. If you want to have "your water" and do not want other guys to fish it buy a faster boat. This argument is almost as valid as the guy who whines about people fishing his dock that sits over or on public water.

I have never seen the lateral perch in action but baitsmith has one that looks pretty sick.

Throw in some short pauses and sharp rips on the crank bait so its not just a steady retrieve.
