  1. It depends on what you are punching and how thick the mats are. A punch rig like what paycheck baits offers is used with a 1 1/2oz to 2oz weight. This rig will get you through things like pennywort. I don't care if you put KY on a jig it's not going through this stuff. Pennywort The bead on the punch skirt in combination with a snell knot causes the hook to cam out allowing better hook ups. I like using the set up just the way Bub Tosh shows. Since I have switched over I catch way more of the fish that bite.
  2. It could be worse. They could be listening to Lindsey Lohan or Britney Spears. I give Hanna a few more years to become a train wreck.
  3. Now they know what he did with that X he confiscated earlier in the day. ;D

  5. Roboworms do not float until the salt has dissolved. 80% of the time a robo is what I have tied on my dropshot.
  6. I agree with Catt. Mix it up and see what they want. By slow rolling this bait and doing nothing else you are turning it into a one trick pony. You can also call attention by adding short rips creating a splash. Changing out the hooks is a good idea the stock ones are crap.

Often times people dismiss short strikes as pan fish. Sometimes bass just strike short. I had a day this year where I was throwing a 6in BBZ-1 Jr and I was getting short strikes about half the time. I know they were bass because I saw it happen half a dozen times or so right at the boat. I have also had this happen fishing a texas rigged worm. Added a stinger hook and caught fish. I think it was in the BBZ book where Bill told a story about having the tails ripped off his worms. The worms had a chartreuse tail. He rigged the worm backwards and caught fish. They were keyed in on the Chartreuse tail. Sometimes minor adjustments and a little creativity are the answer. Its not always pan fish on the other end.
  8. I am sure some will disagree but I throw all my jigs on braid. If I need to add a floro leader for picky fish I use an Alberto knot to join the leader to the braid. You also need to be an excellent line watcher. If you hold the braid with your fingers while the bait falls on a slack line many times you can feel the fish pick it up. A bass will spit a jig much faster than a plastic. I do not wait with a jig I set the hook right away. A good sensitive rod makes a huge difference also.
  9. We are on the same page.
  10. Your on to something. The following mantra "Every thing matters, Yet nothing matters" is a Big Bass Zone principal. The key is paying attention and trying something different if need be. If your not getting bit change what you are doing. Even if it may seem against conventional bass wisdom.
  11. If this is the only way you fish a jig your missing out.
  12. I am guessing the bite was tough. Fish should have been fairly deep for the most part.
  13. I only fish about four colors. Sexy shad, Chartreuse with a blue back, spring craw and red and black.
  14. I do not own one nor have I fished one, but that's exactly what I was getting at. Its the like the difference between a deep diving crank and a lipless crank. They are both cranks just have different uses. I think this bait would excel fished faster walked, twitched, ripped and paused. I am still interested in hearing how it performs modified.
  15. I could be wrong but looking at the design of the bait it looks more like a twitch/rip bait. I think that may be why the action seemed off. It was not really designed with slow rolling in mind.
  16. There are a number of factors in loosing fish. Poor hooks, wrong rod, wrong line, poor drag setting and so on. But the number one reason I see someone loose a fish over is poor rod control. Allowing slack into the line gives the fish the ability to throw the bait. The most common time this happens is when a fish jumps. The heavier the bait the higher probability it can be thrown. When the fish is moving to jump drop your rod down towards the water and reel. Sometimes I even add a slight sweep to the rod as do this.
  17. Interesting. I am going to pay attention to that one. That could help determine where to start the day. Especially after a pre-fish several days earlier.
  18. Location + timing. I recently fished a turny where we found a good number of fish on a spot. We pulled about 25lbs off it in the first 3hrs. Went back the next day and only caught one in the same time frame. We knew the spot was still holding a fair number of fish because we were still graphing them. We left to give some other water a try. Hit the spot again later in the day and bam! They must have skipped breakfast that day. The fish were still there, all that changed was the time they fed.
  19. I will have to give this one a try. This is a whole new look to buzz baiting. There won't be many fish that have seen it.
  20. You have to take the cap off.

Brown and purple, Black and blue, Pumpkin, Green and brown, red and black, White and any other colours that work in any other water condition. They all work in clear water to.
  22. I have had the same.
  23. All the time. It does not work on all plastics though.
