  1. In my belief system colour makes up a small percentage of the equation. I place far more emphasis on location, depth, cadence, speed, vibration, water displacement and the best possible angle of the retrieve. With that said there are definitely times when color is the difference between getting bit... or not. I think matching the hatch can be just as important as throwing something that stands out from everything else. I have never seen a chartreuse shad with a blue back swimming in my local waters. Or a pink bait fish. Take a wild guess what colour sold out first on the latest run of the 3:16 freestyle shad...Pink. I don't think those baits are additions to barbie doll collections. In the short of it. I do not think there is really a matter of fact answer to your question. Its trial and error. If you feel you are fishing in the right place and you have tried everything, change up the colour. Who knows your PB may come on a bubble gum (pink) senko.
  2. Many tournaments are won on top water. Especially frogs.

I work baits uphill as often as I can. Bring them into the structure (ambush points) that big bass use to pin their prey. If I can't work the bait uphill I try to parallel the structure.

I do a lot of water foul hunting and my mossberg 500 is not my top choice for shooting birds or skeet. But IMO the mossberg 500 is one hell of a gun. It rattles and feels like its going to fall apart. When I got mine I thought it felt cheap. However it is one of the best shotguns I have ever owned. It is dependable. I swear you could run the thing over with a truck, throw it out of an airplane, sink it to the bottom of the the ocean and drag back to shore in the sand and it would still work fine. It has a simple design that is functional. I will never get rid of mine.
  5. I say try it. If your not trying to make a living doing it than what the hell.

Yes you cut the straw down with some scissors into 3/16 inch wide rings. Just slide it up the worm. Megastrike helps them go on easier. You need the fat straws like for slurpees. Make sure that the hook is pointed out. If its pointed toward the bait you wont get good hook ups. I like the tungsten nail weights because of there size plus they make more noise and with this method you wont loose a ton of worms. I have caught a lot of fish on senkos with this method also. Most of the time you can use a #2 dropshot hook but with the senkos I go to a circle hook.
  7. When death occurs and the organs decompose gases form. Its kinda like a balloon. Its just a lot more unpleasant when it pops.
  8. A bit extreme. Should we stone people for swearing?

Been using that rig for a few years. Its a floating worm like a swamp crawler with a nail weight in the head of the bait whacky rigged. Big straws work great as a o'ring so you do not go through a ton of worms.
  10. I was not trying to smear tru tungsten at all. I just think there are better swimbaits that are made here. There are quite a few really good swimbait companies who make their product right here in the U.S. and they back their products up. Most of the baits are hand made so the quality control is much higher. They have fast response time and in many cases your talking to the guy who made the bait. I know that its virtually impossible to buy everything based on where its made. And if a product out performs its competition, I buy it, no matter where its made. Like I said earlier "I own my fair share of BBZ baits". There is a reason for that. They work. All I am saying is that I make a conscious effort to buy American Made.
  11. Personally no. I have used their weights for punching in the past. I know people who have had issues. If I find a product that is made here and its equal to or better. I will AVOID the FOREIGN born products. You want to see the economy change? BUY LOCAL, BUY AMERICAN when you can.
  12. It depends on where you fish, your level of skill and your goals. You have to fish where big fish live. If all you do is strive to catch DD's throwing nothing but 8in or bigger baits your gonna find your fair share of 5 lbers. There are guys that break 5 lbs regularly. I know guys who do not even keep a record of a fish caught unless its over 7 lbs. I guess I can see 495.9hrs being average if you take and lump all the regions together and everyone across the board from the guy who goes a few times a year to the hardcore pro. Just to show how crazy that figure (459.9 Hrs) can be to someone who is truly a master of there craft. Bill Siemantle has caught over 400 fish above 10 lbs and more than 75 in the teens. So take the number 400 (fish caught) multiply it buy the suggested hours it takes to catch a 5 lber (were using 10's). 400 x 495.9 = 198,360 hrs. Now divide 198,360 by an 8 hr day. It comes out to 24,795 days. Divide it by 365 days in a year. It would take 68 years of fishing 8 hrs a day 7 days a week to catch 400. Just think if they gave an average time for catching a 10 lber.
  13. I agree, this type of hook set generates way more energy than a standard snap hook set. It moves a ton of line.
  14. I have never owned a true tungsten bait. I probably never will either. I like the Idea of buying quality baits from U.S. made manufacturers (all though I do own my fair share of BBZ's). The customer service is unparalleled. For just a little more money there are better options out there.
  15. Don't know if it will work but I would try mendit.

  17. Very realistic bait. I have had better luck on them in the spring around bed fish. Buy the hard gill. I think its a better summer bait.
  18. I have not had line fray on weights with inserts. I use 65lb power pro no floro in the grass. I do not think there is a need for it. Plus the braid cuts through the grass and IMO gives a better hook set. Check out paycheck baits on youtube Bub Tosh will show ya how to rig it.
  19. In my experience a senko is the best follow up bait I have found. 60% of the time it works every time.
  20. I fish standing up 90% of the time. I am to active to sit all day. I like to be able to move freely. I think that is why fishing a senko for me is like watching paint dry. Not to mention when I am fishing trnys many times I am sleep deprived and sitting allows my focus to drift. About the only time I use the seat is to brace myself if its rough out.
  21. I only wear mine when the big motor is on. I can also see the logic in really rough water if encountered. Any other time I am willing to take the risk. I am not going to live my life wrapped in bubble wrap.
  22. A few of his songs on youtube were not bad. Kind of a southern rock feel to them. I am not a pop country fan at all.
  23. Lunker punker, BBZ 1, MS Slammer, Rat-l-traps, speed traps. The colors I have caught most stripers on are white, silverfish and red/black.
  24. All though your equipment may not be the highest percentage option for certain applications. It will catch fish. Go have fun. See where it takes you.You may out grow what you have. Most of the guys I have met that are in clubs are willing to help. In many cases will let you try out their gear. You will find out pretty fast what works for you and what doesn't or you may feel totally comfortable with what you have.
