Every August when I'm on Champlain for a week, I devote a day or two to Northerns. I bring out the medium heavy 61/2' rods and 5/8-3/4oz white tandem willow leaf spinnerbaits.and 5" white grubs on 1/2 oz leadheads. PB so far is 16lb. and still trying.

Went out Monday for the day on Whitehall...shallow weedy...saw some fanned out areas...water temp is back down to a more realistic 63-64 degrees...caught 9 largemouth bass...none near spawning areas...all but three over 2#...So Smallmouth are probably ready now and Largemouth will be ready about the first of June...like JF said look for full moon.

7-2 Largemouth-1985-Whitehall Res.-Bluegill Gitzit w/1/4 oz leadhead inserted. Was the lake record for about 20 minutes.

If there is a chain sporting goods outlet (BPS Cabelas LLBean etc) around you then perhaps you can find some nice combo specials.

Well I think you have found a good deal. However, back in 2005 when I bought my Triton, I looked at everything. The Nitro was well built and nicely appointed. The problem for me was that everything that wasn't a X or Z series still had a wood transom encased in fiberglass. Now pretty much everything is some sort of fiberglass. Please have someone knowledgeable in boats, check the soundness of your transom before you buy it. Best of luck and choose wisely.

Thanks for the clarification.....It's nice to be "new" someplace. I've just never been a big "rules" guy when dealing with honorable people. From what I've seen so far.....everyone seems honorable. I suppose that rules will keep us that way. Thanks again.
