  1. As mentioned above - proper spool tension adjustment will be required to enable you to cast efficiently. Also, proper drag adjustment is an instrumental setting that's required to fight & land fish. Finally, Don't forget the line. A-Jay
  2. That's very Cool ~ Congrats ! A-Jay
  3. Paddling efficiency is reduced quite dramatically with the square back. A few of my favorite haunts are "off the beaten path" and require a decent portage, a few others are paddle only waters - so while on these it's all A-Jay thrust. Though not impossible, it's a bear trying to tool around for any distance. There isn't much gliding going on. But I get a good shoulder workout especially once that afternoon breeze whips up. Tip - don't forget the Anchor. A-Jay
  4. Thanks for the vote of confidence - but that trip is a chance for me to kick back and Re-Lax. Despite having a small weight room at the lodge, you find won't me in it - unless they move the chow hall and the Bar in there . . A-Jay
  5. When fishing a snag prone rocky bottom, a drop shot may be the way to go also. You can lightly crimp the necessary split shot down at the very end of your tag line and if / when they hang up, most times they will slip right off your line. Some what frustrating but better than loosing a fish and/or your whole rig; & cheaper too, especially if you're using tungsten. A-Jay

  7. The Square Back is not the best Paddler Friendly vessel but works nicely with a trolling motor here's my ride. A-Jay
  8. I don't know if he's ever seen them. These are the "winter" aftermarket pro keds that were originally on the Sierra denali pick up that the Yukon replaced. The stainless steel wheels are holding up nicely to the salt and sand. Besides, once you meet me - making fun of me might not be the first thing on your mind . . . . . . . . A-Jay

  16. A couple of years ago BR member and now good friend Dwight Hottle invited me to smb fish on Lake Erie. His style of open / big water jerk bait fishing is different from anything I'd ever seen or read. I've been a smb addict all my life and having someone share this world class smallmouth fishery & his extremely effective technique has enriched my fishing to a level I would have never been able to realize on my own. Notching several new smb PB's has a way of doing that. Saying Thank You just doesn't seem any where near sufficient. A-Jay
