I guess this is me ? Thanks guys - It's been more of a chill-axing kind of a day. But the night is young . . . A-Jay

Not being familiar with the waters the OP is fishing, especially the size, I'll add this. I fish several small bodies of water a year with a canoe. Though most offer a decent population of bass, however there are really only so many resident fish in each one. And if I were to fish the same lakes, the same way and especially in the same exact spots, ALL THE TIME - eventually, I would expect some tough sledding. Particularly on the smaller bodies of water. I'll even add that on many of these lakes, I am one of, if not the only knuckle head bass fishing, as many are walleye or trout targeted waters, so the bass often go unmolested. (until I get there) So why would or do bites get hard to come by, you can make your own assessment. My thought revolves around the fact that I end up sore lipping the better fish that live in & around the structure & cover I like to target, so they may not be very willing to feel the steel again the next day, or three times a week . or 8 times a month . . .I think you get my point. Either way, my standard routine when fishing these smaller waters involves me hitting each one a few times a season. I'll whack a few from each spot I can and after a couple of trips I move to the next one (lake). Love to let them 'rest' and come back in a couple of weeks or a month and reintroduce myself to them. I am fortunate in that there is a ton of water to fish here. Very little of this applies to the Larger lakes I fish from the Pro-V bass Bat as I believe the spots I get on most are reloaded constantly. YMMV A-Jay
  4. Chris Simms ( the human who penned this Ranking) definitely has an interesting point of view. Placing the Giants, Steelers & the Chiefs AHEAD of the Falcons (5th) at 2nd, 3rd, & 4th respectively, might be an indication of crack use. Just say 'in. Of course, he must have placed the New England team at the top before he sparked up . . . . A-Jay
  5. I've been singing the praises of the Calcutta 200D for a while. I did a review on one 5 years ago when it first came out and have been hooked ever since. This reel doesn't get a lot of love, perhaps because it's a round reel (and it's fairly $$). Either way, it's smooth, powerful & easily one of my favorite reels to fish. A-Jay
  6. I like speed as much as anyone - but it represents a smaller percentage in my fishing. A-Jay
  7. Nice Super Soaker Bass ! And a Home State PB. Congrats A-Jay
  8. Every single jig bite at night ~ And anytime I need my passport to go fishing A-Jay
  9. Hello and Congrats on your first post to the Bass Resource Forum. This is thread is just short of 10 years old. You'd stand a better chance of eliciting a response if you re-post your inquiry here ~ https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/16-southeast-bass-fishing/ A-Jay
  10. I prefer to present Spinnerbaits & Vibrating jigs at 5.7:1 ~ something around 25 inches per turn works for me. Usually this one Swimjigs go on a 6.6:1 reel for me. A-Jay
  11. The baits I've thrown - (Duo Realis) Do not lend themselves to a shallow water approach. For me, in order to get the most out of the bait, it's a light line, fairly slow retrieve deal. Doing this, the bait sinks quite a bit & pretty quickly, even when the retrieve is started right away. Only way I see being able 'to keep' it shallow (less than 10ft), would be to either use heavier line (mono) and/or speed up the retrieve. Both of these have been bite killers for me, at least on smallies in clear water, which is the only way I've fished this bait so far. YMMV. A-Jay
  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I'm not familiar with Lowe Boats but good luck none the less . . . A-Jay
  13. Based on Tom's (repeated) praise for this line, I picked up a couple of spools. I have to say, So Far, So Good. Seems like a solid performer. Thank You Sir. A-Jay
  14. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ You've come to the right place. We're loaded with Fishing Freaks. A-Jay
  15. Maybe this could help ~ A-Jay
  16. @CybrSlydr ~ I heard we were all coming to your house ~ A-Jay
  17. Wait. Unless you have the skills, tools & experience to do the vast majority of the work needed yourself, you'll probably spend more than 5K getting that boat, motor & trailer in safe & operational condition. A-Jay
  18. Fair enough my friend and you know I totally agree. But in my own defense . . . .I'd like to humbly present Exhibits A & B Your Honor - The defense rests. A-Jay
  19. I use a uni-to-uni Knot as recommended on the package - Lengths used vary between 14 and I guess 18 inches. Too short and a big gator which swallows the bait could easily still be getting at my mainline. Too long seems like a waste of material. Never want it going through the guides so I don't use a bead. - If you're using a presentation that spins - I guess a swivel would be appropriate but I do not go that way. Otherwise the knot is completely sufficient. If I'm changing baits frequently I may add a small clip to the bitter end. While taking some decent smallies last fall with a RES and a spinnerbait - this was some of the by -catch. The leader material clearly saved the day - it always does. A-Jay
  20. Very good stuff. Pike are in many places I smallie fish, especially early / season. Any bait I do not want to risk getting bit off gets this. Mostly hardbaits & spinnerbaits, probably wouldn't use it for tubes. I'd just tie on another one and or relocate. Either way, this spring I managed to retain possession of all my jerkbaits, while still taking a few decent fish. I use the 20lb camo the most. A-Jay
  21. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ There may be quite a few suggestions offered for you. Mine would be, if possible, fish at night. Especially in the heat of the summer. A-Jay
  22. And as a follow up - and something I'll admit to being sort of ashamed of myself for not starting with this . . . . Slaying 4, 5 & most recently 6lb Smallies is pretty Righteous ~ So Right here isn't too bad either. Just say 'in. A-Jay
  23. It's fun to dream . . . . . . . After hiring a driver, a cook, a couple of housemaids & at least one translator, I'd be the newest year round resident of Sinaloa, Mexico. Specifically in very close proximity to Lake Baccarac . . . A-Jay
