  4. Use something other than a bait holder hook. And flatten down the barb - the hook will easily back right out. A pair of hemostat style pliers are helpful with small fish & small hooks. https://www.amazon.com/Berkley-BTSTLP6-Hemostat-Pliers-6-InchSoft/dp/B005WIHPHQ/ref=sr_1_20?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1502673019&sr=1-20&keywords=fishing+pliers A-Jay
  5. Here are all my answers to your questions ~ What water temperature would dictate the transition for the bass to their fall patterns? Looking for the Early 'fall bite' for me has me looking less at the water temps and more at the condition of the shallow water weeds. Once they start to die back, the bait that usually hides in & around it, has to relocate. This makes the bait vulnerable. The bass know that and that's when I expect my first 'fall bite' to get good. Knowing when & where this happens is the trick. Often times it happens much earlier than I expect and the early signs can be subtle. This is something I want to get on as early as I can. If I wait until the weeds are dead & Brown and lying on the bottom - it's way too late - I've missed it. Might take some 'searching', but when I get on it, it's usually a good time; for both numbers & size. As for indicators on the water, and it certainly helps to have good vis, look for the first signs of the weeds dying back. Tips of cabbage & coontail brown or even wilt. Not exactly magic. Typically, but not always, places bass set up during pre-spawn and even bedding areas can be a good spot to start looking. Deep water close by is almost a must. What are the fall patterns for largemouth? See above. What are some staple fall fishing baits that you would recommend? Also, what does it mean when a lake is "turning over" and what does that do to the bass? Good Luck A-Jay

Hello Bobby and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  7. I had a nice selection of the LC baits before the SK baits were introduced. Fished them side by side for most of one season here. I've since sold or re-homed all the LC squarebills. YMMV A-Jay

Right. With current roster, including all of the new acquisitions this offseason, I don't think there is a place or a need for this player. btw - I feel pretty good at this point, but thanks. A-Jay
  12. End for end it. In other words walk the line off the spool to get to the bitter end and then put what was on the top on the spool first. You'll then be fishing 'new' line. While re-spooling it - put it on under a little bit of tension, otherwise when you pull drag, it may dig in. A-Jay
  13. Original OE price I found before it was discontinued was $44. Doesn't look like it's available anywhere I could find. For a few bucks more you'd be making the most significant aftermarket reel mod you can make. A-Jay

Nice ~ and Thanks (again. I can certainly appreciate the sentiment but enough already with the happy birthdays . . . Don't want to use them up prematurely. Repeated late birthday wishes are like free pizza - even when they're bad - they're still kind of good. A-Jay
  15. The OE has been discontinued by Shimano - But do not despair - Go with a Hawg Hadle from Hawgtech Clearly better that OE - and you can customize it the way to want. Do it man . . . . https://www.hawgtech.com/product/Hawg-Handle%3A-Shimano A-Jay

  18. I agree with @smalljaw67 – suspended fish are often super hard to trigger into biting. You’ll most likely have better success if you target bass on or at the very least, relating closer to the bottom. Suspended bass that are relating to cover that’s up off the bottom, like timber for instance, are a different story and will often respond to baits crashed into the cover. When I find suspended fish in the fall – I’ll look around for the some decent bottom cover in the area with the hopes of coming back later and fishing it. Sometimes those suspenders will move in there & feed. If what I find has bait on or near it – even better. A-Jay
  19. Can't find where they'll be & when, and that's probably by design, but there's a decent chance Grand, Long & or Hubbard lakes will see some MLF action at some point. Thunder Bay on Lake Huron could be on the schedule again as well, depending on the weather. And remember what I said about the 'early fall bite' in another thread ? This will make that painfully obvious. I'm a fan of MLF but it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if they stayed off the MI inland lakes . . . A-Jay

  22. @N Florida Mike @GetBent Open up an album in your gallery. Go through the brief process of saving your picture(s) to the album. Then when you want to add a pic to a post, open the insert other media tab, then click 9nsert existing attachment tab, then open your gallery images. Select the desired pic from there and it will load into your post. If you want to resize the pic inside that thread, double click in the pic (it will go blue). Modify the 'numbers' in the 'size box' to fit your needs. If you keep the original aspect ratio block checked, (my preference) simply change the first numbers and tab over to the second set and the rest will be automatically modified. Click insert and it will be placed into your post. Sounds like a big deal when typed out, but it's all fairly easy. And if I can manage any of it, you know it's got to be some kind of simple. A-Jay

  24. The type of blank material, (Graphite, Glass or Composite) will without a doubt determine how the stick will fish. This includes casting, setting the hook, as well as fighting & hopefully landing a bass on that rod. I'd encourage you to both read up on and best case scenario, try a few different ones, in advance of committing your hard earned $$. Going 300 American on a stick based on anyone's 'recommendation' might not be the best course of action, especially when if comes to crank baits rods which are notorious for being very specific to each angler's style. 25. Although not familiar with that particular body of water - a bass is pretty much a bass most any place through it's range. Searching out where the bass are & what works is called 'Bass Fishing'. Clearly I haven't met them all, but I know of exactly zero bassheads, new, experienced & everything in between, who catches them every trip. Whenever I'm fortunate enough to identify a successful location, technique and or bait, I am usually pretty psyched and rarely disappointed. And if there is any confusion during any part of this process, I can assure you - it's not the bass. Continue trying new areas, at different times of the day, with an assortment of presentations. Most importantly, Keep Fishing. A-Jay
