  3. What you're doing before you're assaulted make little difference - the result is the same. BTW - West Virginia is a traditional open carry state but there are some grandfathered local open carry bans not preempted by state law, such as the City of Charleston. There is complete state preemption of all firearms laws, but any local laws passed before preemption remain in effect. A-Jay
  4. Two against one - is not a good situation ever. It may not ever happen again - until it does. Sounds like you were very fortunate on this occasion. That unsafe, uneasy, insecure feeling you had was truly justified. I do not like that feeling and have taken steps to made the odds at the very least even or best case scenario - in my favor.   5. Sweet - I've always considered the Fire Ball sort of a warning shot - although I'll admit it's fairly brief and does technically become visible after the projectile has exited the barrel - but it's better than nothing . . . . A-Jay
  6. Ask your friend what the name of the boat is and call them. They will be most happy to answer all your questions regarding what to bring, wear and the tackle you'll be using as well as what fish you could hope to catch. The boat may even have a web site that has FAQ's and other info you'll be glad to Know BEFORE you head out to Sea, Good Luck and say hello to Willy for us . . . . A-Jay

  10. Northern Michigan is still transitioning into the warmer season - yea, that's it. So the A/C might be on during the day and then the heat comes on at night - like last night and tomorrow night - below freezing. This place is a little wacky . . . . A-Jay

  12. I've commented on many of these threads in the past but the subject matter is Important. Three decades of Search & Rescue presented me with far too many of these tragic stories. And that's exactly what they are - Tragic. Because such a huge percentage of them are preventable. No one goes out for a day of fun in the sun and expects to lose a loved one or perish themselves. It always seemed so surreal searching for one or more lost souls, often in less than 10 feet of water, with the sounds of laughter and the smell of sun tan lotion filling the air as family & friends enjoyed a good time on the water. Then it is all suddenly shattered as one of them slips beneath the surface, often never to be seen again - EVER. You want reality - try handing the cold, limp & lifeless body of a 12 year old girl to her parents on the beach . . . . . Just incredibly sad. Please wear a Life Jacket. A-Jay
  13. As mentioned - the choices are almost endless and on any given day several can be anyone's favorite. But to narrow it down, for me - the versatility and ability to consistent get bit makes the SK Rage Craw / Lobster a real fan favorite. A 10 inch Black Berkley Power Worm comes in at a close second. My wife will tell you that if she absolutely HAD to catch a bass - she'd be throwing a 4 inch *** Trick Stick in the unusual but seriously effective Phantom color. And I'd be reaching for the net - again. A-Jay

  15. X2 I wear Mucks as well ~ MUCK WATERPROOF RUBBER CAMO BOOTS WOODY BAYOU to be exact. This model is a little $$ and hard to come by for some reason but they have a built in "wader" folded at the top of each boot which can be deployed when needed. Very nice. A-Jay

  20. The answer is it all depends. The further you crank the worse the bad effects will be. The bad effects include a worse ride and more wear and tear on your IFS components. These components include your ball joints, CV half shafts, and tie rods. The reason these wear faster is that the LCA and UCA are pushed down creating a bigger angle at which these components must operate at. All of these wear out faster when operated at a steeper angle. Therefore the further you lift your truck, the faster your will wear components and the worse it will ride. Also you might have heard of someone breaking a CV shaft or you might have even done it yourself. A CV shaft can operate at a certain angle before it binds. When it reaches its binding angle and power is applied (as in your in 4x4 and gas it) the force has to go somewhere, since the joint cant turn it blows up! This can happen even if your torsion bars aren’t adjusted way up by having your suspension at max drop and wheels turned very sharp. The catch is, adjusting your bars up makes it much easier to reach max drop since your already closer to it, and in turn makes it a lot easier to snap a CV. A-Jay

  22. Don't know for sure if the presence of carp in the shallows help or hurts the bass bite. But if your lake has any kind of depth and decent pike population - the Super Tankers are often not too far. Yesterday the lake I was on, which is blessed with huge pike, had a ton of carp up shallow - quite a few of them looked like they had a fight with a meat grinder & lost - all scarred up. A-Jay
