A MUST READ!
HA!...That would be a heck of a lot cheaper than a fully wrapped truck and boat. Not to mention that it would probably get alot more attention. I can picture it now...A blow up doll wearing a jersey, hat, and pfd on the roof of the truck cruising down the freeway at 70...Now that is a sure way to get some exposure!

Leak In My Jon Boat
Ok, well when John writes at the very first post "It is only coming from the jointed areas"...that tells me that it isnt coming from the flat aluminum thinning out from running it over gravel. If it is a seam or a joint then yes...JB Weld will work. I too am trying to help John out. That is the point of posting a response to someone needing help. But if he only wanted advice from you and your friends...then maybe he should've called you on the phone. Givin' the info that he provided in his post...I posted a solution (a cheap and simple long lasting one at that) to try and give him a hand.

Leak In My Jon Boat
That's funny...let me know the next time you take a jon boat and exceed a tensile strength of 3960 psi and a flex strength of 7320 psi. Im sure it would hold up if you threw it off a 10 story bridge. But what do I know.... apparently I'm just setting him up for failure.

Leak In My Jon Boat
JB Weld = perminant fix. I know I'm probably getting under some guys skin, but the stuff works. Now if there are hairline fractures running in the metal that would be a different story. It's a jon boat and it sounds like he wants to stop a small seam from leaking. I don't think he is wanting to cut out area, get a filler piece, find an aluminum welder to patch it back up, sand, bondo, primer, sand, paint, and put a finish on it. I'm just sayin'...How much time and money do you want to spend on this project? Get a picture on here and lets see the "damage". By the way, plumber's epoxy and JB weld are not the same thing....P.S. I have a degree in vehicle design and I know epxoy won't hold an engine block together unlike JB weld. 2 more products that I have not used that would be worth looking into is: 1) Water Weld http://jbweld.net/products/water.php 2) Marine Weld http://jbweld.net/products/marine.php Right off thier website: Description: Formulated like our industrial-strength J-B WELD cold-weld, MARINE WELD cures as strong as steel, and is water- and weather-proof. It's impervious to saltwater, chemicals, oil, acids, and other corrosive materials, and tolerates extreme temperature fluctuations. Every boat afloat should carry MARINE WELD for quick and permanent repairs from surf board nicks to hull repairs.Use MARINE WELD for: steel, aluminum, fiberglass, & wood hull repairs engines trailers deck gear winches & pulleys propellers & screws anchors masts hot & cold pipes holding tanks rivets, bolts, & dowels surf boards, jet skis, & windsurfers

Leak In My Jon Boat
Their original JB Weld product is what I used. It comes in 2 tubes...black and red...squirt an equal mix of red and black on a piece of cardboard and mix together (anything will work, small piece of wood, spoon, etc.). It will turn grey and start to get thick...apply over the area that is leaking on the boat. Let it set for 24 hours and sand down. You won't have a problem painting over it. If you ask any of the workers at the auto parts store, they'll be able to help. It's a very common fix for alot of different things. You can drill holes, pound on it, apply it to plastics, metal, fiberglass, wood...anything. After you use it for this project you will never forget how great it really works and use it for other things. This stuff dries as hard as metal...Keep that in mind when you're trying to sand it down. Good luck and let us know how it works for you. I have no doubts. http://jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php is what I used and I know it will work for you.

A MUST READ!
The article has valid points, but the numbers are definately a stretch of the imagination. I'm just using the following as an example of inflated numbers. If I were a business owner and someone approached me with a sales pitch like this I would be polite and tell him I'll think about it...and laugh when he leaves my office. I drive my Suburban 15,000 miles a year. At an average highway/city rate of 30 miles per hour, it takes me about 500 hours to drive those miles, so each year my wrapped boat and vehicle account for 1.5 million highway impressions (500 hours x 3,000 impressions per hour). I'd like to really know where the 3,000 impressions per hour comes from...Lets see, he states a billboard in Ohio gets 32,540 "impressions" per day....32,540/24 hours in a day would equal 1355 "impressions" an hour...but his vehicle would get almost 2 1/2 that...I don't think so. Vehicles passing on the other side of the freeway in the opposite direction doesn't quite give you "exposure" or "impressions". He hits the nail on the head when he mentions all the tactics to get exposure...email, truck/boat wraps, internet, seminars, etc... But don't over-inflate the numbers. You'll sound like a fool when you're approaching a prospective sponsor.

Leak In My Jon Boat
Sounds like a job for some JB Weld. Go to your nearest auto parts store and spend the $5 on it. I used it on a 2" hole in a plastic gas tank on a jeep wrangler one time and it held up for years. No leak issues ever. It will adhere to anything. I used some duck tape to help hold in place until it hardened up and worked out great.

Night Fishing For Large Mouth.
This probably isn't going to help all that much but help others better understand the fish. Here's what I've come up with as to why it is more difficult to catch when the sun goes down. It takes the human eye roughly 30 minutes to adjust from light to dark. For bass, it takes them 2 hours for their eyes to adjust to darkness. This is the reason fishing usually abruplty ends. I'm not a scientist and cannot explain the reason for this next bit of info. They are somehow able to adjust their eyes 2 hours prior to the sun coming up. Given that info about the 2 hours after dark,...I would assume you would need something loud and create vibrations in order for them to locate your bait because they arent able to see it. Their lateral lines on the sides act as ears under the water and are very sensitive. So this is the technique I would consider knowing the little facts about the anatomy of the fish. I hope this helps. -Grouch

NEED NEW MICHIGAN SPOT!
Last year I was looking for the best lake for monster bass (in michigan). After hours (days) of research I found it. I know its a little far for many of the SE Michigan guys, but all I can tell you is it was well worth the trip. The lake is Fletcher's Floodwaters (also known as Fletchers Pond). If youre not familiar with it, then you need to look it up. It is in Hillman, MI...about 20 miles west of Alpena. I took my girl up there for a week and we slayed some big ones. The 1st day she caught a 4 1/2 lb. LM when we were fishing the NW part of the lake. Do a yahoo or google search for some photos and you'll be amazed. It rained on us alot but didnt slow down the fishing very much. She really wants to take the trip back there. We pitched a tent and made that home at one of the few campgrounds there and met some really great people there. I live in Shelby Township (SE Mich) and will most definately take the drive north again next year. About the lake...its full of trees and stumps...you really need to be careful when navigiting. It is known for eating props and lower ends. Im matter of fact it is quite peaceful out there because there aren't any skiers or jet skis out there because of the stumps. Just fishermen (and ladies). I had her at the front to help navigate because of it. But when you do get into the thick of it...hold on, cuz there are some monsters in there. I saw a guy bring in a 21 in. LM when we were standing at the shore. Very impressive.

My new boat I picked up
The original motor blew up so it installed this big ulgy white 175 on the back...but hey, it gets me around. He also threw in an extra 175 w/ a bad lower and a running 175 Black Max for $600. I will be selling all 3 motors to buy something newer...I've been shopping for a Yamaha 175 vmax. Let me know if anyone may be interested in any of the motors. -Jim

My new boat I picked up
Heres my new boat. Its a 1995 Nitro 190 Dual Console and I bought it from the original owner. He took it to the dealer to trade it in and they would only give him $2500 for it so he put it on craigslist to try to get more...Needless to say, I picked it up for $3500. Its in great shape and I couldnt believe that I got it for that price. I just recieved my new Humminbird 797 c2i SI Combo with NVB bundle (thanks to some of the board members that gave it high remarks). I still need to install it. Anyways, Im really excited about it and thought I would share it with everyone.

FLW + Coangler netting = LAME
Im all about not using a net when fishing for fun...but if I were fishing in the Forrest Wood Cup for $500,000 and lost a fish because my partner had too much "pride"...I would probably probably throw him overboard.

Do I buy the Humminbird 797 or something else?
OK, Im sold on it. Thanks for the help. After that last post about the detail of the engine block is what did it. Thats awsome. Wayne, thanks for the info on the yahoo group. The pictures are incredible. I ended up purchasing mine with the NV Bundle because of this group. You rock! By the way...in case anyone else is looking to purchase this, Cabela's has them on sale. I just put my order in. The 797 c2i w/ standard unimap it is $100 off and if you want the one with the upgraded Navionics bundle it is $150 off regular price.

Do I buy the Humminbird 797 or something else?
Hey all...I'm looking to purchase the Humminbird 797 with navionics bundle. It has the ever-so-sweet looking side imaging on it. Look up GPS/PLOTTER 797cx SI HUMMINBIRD on youtube. I realize this is a sponsored commercial by humminbird but just wanted to show you the image on it if you havent seen it. Before I fork over the $1,100 for it I wanted your opinions. Has anyone used this? Would anyone recommend something else for the money? Thanks -Grouch

Southeast Michigan meet?
Hey guys, I would love to meet up...except Im working overseas until Oct. 20th. I live in Shelby Township and have a new boat waiting for me there (not new, but new to me - 1995 Nitro w/ 175 hp). I will be able to go out any day between Oct. 21st-Nov. 20th. I dont even care what lake cuz I want to fish all over. Let me know if anyone wants to go out on it...you dont even need to pay for gas...you just need to love bass fishing. Let me know if they're any takers. -Grouch
