  1. How many people showed up for the past trips?
  2. I don't know about ribs, but for steaks I use crumbled blue cheese. I was really surprised the first time someone made it for me because I don't even normally like it. After cooking a steak to you likings, put some crumbled blue cheese on top and broil it until melted. Keep and eye on it to make sure you don't over cook it. The flavor is a very strong flavor and is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend everyone give it a try sometime.
  3. The following chart was taken from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency - Fisheries Management Division. http://www.state.tn.us/twra/fish/FishFacts/spawn.html I'm not arguing with anyone...Just putting out more info. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spawning Temperatures The following table lists the spawning temperatures of various fish species in Tennessee. Temperatures are given in degrees Fahrenheit (F) Species Spawning First Fry (approx.) Paddlefish 50-55 ~57 Largemouth 68-72 ~75 Smallmouth 59-60 ~65 Striped Bass 59-65 ~68 Cherokee Bass 55-57 ~60 Spotted Bass 63-68 ~70 White Bass 57-68 ~63 Yellow Bass 62-67 ~70 Warmouth 75-80 ~80 Bluegill* 70-75 ~77 Redear 68-75 ~77 Green Sunfish 75-85 ~85 Black Crappie 62-68 ~68 White Crappie 60-65 ~65 Channel Catfish 75-80 ~82 Blue Catfish 70-75 ~78 Walleye 45-50 ~50 Sauger 40-45 ~47 Muskie 49-59 ~52 Northern Pike 40-52 ~54 Rainbow Trout 50-55 ~55 Brown Trout 47-52 ~51 Brook Trout 45-48 ~50
  4. Still a scam...If its on craigslist and local, then why can't you go and take a look at it? Also, I had my ebay password stolen. The good news was ebay caught it and notified me before anything potentially bad happened. Here's how it happened and what could've came out of it. I recieved an "authentic looking" email from ebay and said "an item you have been watching is about to expire, please login to view the item". So I clicked the link on the email and typed in my password. Bam, thats how they got it and I didnt suspect anything at all until the real ebay emailed me the next day that they thought my password was compromised. Im usually really good about spotting scams, but I have to admit...I really got taken that time. So what they then do is post an auction with a picture of a supposed item, with a 99-100% feedback rating...Cuz it was stolen like mine was. Anyways...about that particular boat...Craigslist is meant to be for local sales...If this is truely local...then why is the seller not letting you see it in person? Cuz it doesn't even exist.
  5. Roland!!! You lied to me!!!! I want my $11.66 back!!! :'(
  6. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE on the Tennessee River. Our spawn is in progress and will be over in early March. The water temperature is +/- 52 and will not be anywhere close to 59 anytime soon. 8-) Then maybe Roland is wrong...but I'm not gonna be the one to tell him that. ;D
  7. Here is a quote from Roland Martin's 101 Bass-Catching Secrets book, "Largemouth bass spawn when the water temperature reaches 62 degrees, and smallmouth bass spawn when it reaches 59 degrees. No matter where you live, this is true. Generally the majority of the bass spawn at or near a full moon". I've ordered a few books from amazon.com and this was one of them. There are tons of facts and knowledge that can be learned from reading them. I highly recommend Martin's 101. Some other good reads are Kevin Van Dam's :Secrets of a Champion and Knowing Bass by Dr. Keith Jones.
  8. Its a scam. I use craigslist alot and can tell them apart. One thing to look for is the title of any ad before you click on it....next to the title will have the (city) in parenthesis. If it doesn't have the city in your general area then that is the number one clue. If the seller responds that it can be shipped to you, that's another. Unless you can actually go and physically meet with the person and they have the title in hand then don't bother. If a deal is too good to be true then there is a reason. At the top right of the ad you can flag it for removal and I do it quite often when I see these. Also there is more info at the very top of the screen of the ad that states: Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee. You can click the info tab to better understand it.
  9. Mine wasn't quite as big as in those pics, but I can still claim that I caught one of Saddam's bass. This was in one of his palace canals.
  10. I was in the same position last year about spending alot on an SI unit. I bought the 797 c2i and couldn't be happier. After the first time out you will completely forget about the money spent because it is worth every penny. Mounting it at the drivers seat is the best location for it. I also bought it with the upgraded navionics bundle. It really helps when trying to find underwater points or dropoffs on an unfamiliar lake. For those that don't know the difference in the c2 and the c2i, is the c2i has an internal GPS antenna....where as the c2 has a remote mount GPS antenna.
  11. I found this video and hopefully it'll help you better understand how to read the graph. The right side of the screen is what is directly beneith your transducer right now. The left side of the screen doesn't change and is behind your boat that you have already passed by. So the further to the left is further behind your boat. I hope this helps. Also this is a basic picture to help understand the picture on the screen.
  12. I don't know what everyone is so worried about?
  13. I'll be there...Let me know if there's anything you guys need me to bring to help out.
  14. I am happy to announce that I will be attending this years Kentucky Lake trip. The room was booked yesterday and the check went into the mail today. I look forward to meeting everyone and making new friends. I will have a seat available on my boat if anyone should need it. I will be traveling from michigan and have 2 seats available in my explorer if anyone needs a ride along the way. There is no doubt in my mind that this will be an awesome time. See you in April. -Jim Grouch
  15. George Dickel... r u serious?
  16. It was a joke. I would hate for everyone to get too wild and crazy. Must be terrible...you know, fishing all day...hanging out with a bunch of great people...eating, having some drinks, telling lies...talking about how everyone else is at work...lol.
  17. The answer is roughly 50 ft. in clear water. They are farsighted when looking out to the left and right with each individual eye and near sighted when looking straight ahead with both eyes (their field of view overlaps towards the front) to get a better look at something. As far as scents go...they are mainly used for keeping the baits in their mouths giving you more time to set the hook (they have great taste buds inside their mouths). They can smell something "good" in the general area, but can't identify the source because their nostrals are too close together on the top of their heads to give direction.
  18. Everyones going to be sober the whole week right? ;D
  19. Thanks 4 the info...I don't really want to pay that much for a guide like that...I'm not all into making this my trophy bass trip. I just want to catch fish. I can rent a pontoon for $140 a day...I just figured if someone else wanted to make $100-$150 for the day because they live around there, then we would both win. If it were just me by myself then I would most definately be out on the lake everyday I was down there and hire a guide...Unfortunately "we" need to do other things on vacation than just fish.
  20. My girlfriend and I are planning to fly down on March 17th and leave on the 22nd. I was wondering if anyone wanted to be our guide? You do not have to be an expert, but I'm willing to flip a few dollars your way if anyone is interested. It would be nice to meet some other members of the board. If not then I'm just going to study lake maps and rent a boat. Let me know if anyone is interested in taking me up on this offer. Thanks -Jim
  21. I was wondering if any of you had any info on hard cases. I plan on traveling quite a bit this year and am looking to purchase one. We all know how well all of the baggage handlers are and how they take careful consideration into all of our luggage . Please let me know the good, the, bad, and the ugly on these. Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the help guys. I purchased the boat late last year and this was the condition the seats were in when I bought it. The glass is in nice shape and I want to replace the carpet and seats.
  23. I'm looking to replace the faded worn out seats in my '95 Nitro. I was wondering if anyone else has done this or looked into doing it. If so, where did you get the seats from? Any help would be appreciated.
  24. Absolutely...That's not a problem at all. I can give you my phone number if you need some help. Just PM me when the time comes. -Jim
