  1. Sorry if I don't directly reply to all posts. I really do appreciate any and all suggestions. I'm just a college kid that's trying to make the most out of bank fishing and really trying to learn more and grow as a fisherman.
  2. Yeah I could probably make it work but seeing as I go to college near our lake property about 2 hours away from home I always end up having a full back seat when heading back home where I usually hit a few ponds while there. I was just seeing if anyone had any suggestions that fit my specifications as I have had a hard time finding rods that do. I do understand the added sensitivity but if anyone could explain why what I'm looking for is so rare that would also be appreciated. I really appreciate this forum for the wealth of knowledge. When talking to friends they just assume I really know what I'm talking about and every time I get on here I'm humbled.
  3. I'm sure I could find a video on it, but in your opinion how hard is it to buld your own rod from the blank? It seems very tedious on first thought.
  4. I've looked around online and on here and I'm having trouble finding a 2 piece 7' MH casting rod. I have a jeep so 2 piece is almost a must unless I want a rod that I only keep out at my family's lake house. I recently tried a 7' spinning rod and love the longer length and I'm looking to get one of the same length for my baitcaster. My other 2 baitcast rods are 6'6" BPS tourney specials, one M and one MH. I'm skeptical of a H rod as it may have limited use for me as I don't use very many heavy jigs and things of that nature with a lot of weight. If I missed a post on here I apologize and anyone that could point me in the right direction would he greatly appreciated.
  5. I have a an Abu Garcia Blue Max that I got to try out the fundamentals of baitcasting and now that I've covered that I was thinking about trying to see what a nicer reel felt. I would also be getting a new rod but in my experience less money needs to be spent on the rod than the reel. I'm not looking to spend more than around $120 on the whole thing maybe a little more. Any ideas?
  6. I live in Northeast Georgia and I fish this pond behind my house and some other local ponds once in a while. My main pond has heavy vegetation around it and it is a retention pond so it has about 8-12 foot ledge in spots that drops off but I am not sure how deep the middle of the pond is. I have had some luck in the evenings with a frog but not much else is working so far this year. It is somewhat hard to locate cover but i have a little luck and the bottom of the pond is mostly muddy and slimy vegetation. What is your go to bait/lure in this situation, what color, and how do you fish it?
  7. I appreciate it.
  8. I started fishing this pond with murkier water than I am used to and the only thing I've had just minor success with is a torpedo on the surface in the late evening. I've tried jigs, worms, and spinnerbaits and have had very minor success. I'm not sure how deep the pond is but I've talked to a guy that caught a 6-7 pounder in there. There are a couple trees I can see from shore but that's it as far as I know. What would you throw in this situation?
  9. I wanna get a new jig trailer and I've heard rage tail craws are good but what colors are good for a muddy bottomed pond with weeds and some trees. I have a green jig and black/blue swim jig. What are some good trailers for each?
  10. I've had some luck with the all white fluke jr.'s Texas rigged weightless. How do you rig and fish yours?
  11. That's the reason I have 8lb test. Because I've been using a spinning reel all my life and want to try a Baitcaster. I can go but more line. What do you suggest? I'm not a fan of braid.
  12. I fish mostly in smaller to medium sized neighborhood ponds and I've had some luck on Yum Dingers and shaky heads with finesse worms mostly earlier in the year, it has really slowed down recently. What are some recommendations for bait? The bigger pond has darkish brown water an I'm not sure how deep it is but I know there are some big fish in there. The other pond is fairly clear and we guess somewhere between 7-10 feet but smaller. Both ponds have mud/sand bottoms with weeds.
  13. I recently bought an Abu Garcia blues max from academy and it's rated for 12lb test line and the pole is around 14lb I think. I had 8lb mono already and the guy at the store said that would be fine. Will this hurt any function of the rod and reel?

I've bought a dark green and black chatterbait with the original trailer and zoom chunk's. Do these lures work? They look cool but I fish in ponds and haven't caught anything on it. What colors and trailers do you guys like?
  15. Im going fishing at my lake house in Island creek and I was wondering what people have been having luck with on the lake.
