My kids can fish with any rods and reels. Last Christmas I gave them a upgrade to a nice shimano med action bass rod with matching shimano spinning reel. I'm going to try to top it this Christmas. Losing senior? The rate of senkos per fish is 1 senko per fish. I'm very afraid of a fish dying if I use any thing that holds the senko to the hook. I use more of the other styles of senkos because they last longer. My loss or expensive of senkos isn't that much anyway. My buddy puts two smelled hooks in a senko one at each end.

I fish from shore at a few hot spots for big bass. Some places aren't fished at all. It gives me a chance to try all different things. One is Dr. Loren Hill at OK university about his decade long tests about the basses limitations on seeing colors. The bass under certain light and water conditions are limited on what colors they can see. Other times they can see all the colors. There eyes aren't like ours. Let's say there limited like us in the thick fog. Now if everyone reads the basic tips on bass fishing it's been posted many times it's here too; Clear water conditions, sunny blueberry days. It's smaller natural colored lures fished fast so the bass can't get a good look at them. Slightly stained water conditions; same as above but brighter colored smaller lures. Stained water conditions, medium sized lures brighter colors fished slower. Muddy water conditions, larger sized lures in brightest colors fished the slowest. River bass fishing I find the smaller sized lures natural colors and inline spinners work the best in smaller rivers with shallow depths. We work the deeper pools behind the back washes of rocks. Ok were fishing the 9am to 5pm Times for bass. If your looking to find big bass at this time your percentages are very low. If you want trophy size bass these bigger gals come out of there hiding spots in the dark. My best time to fish is in the dark at 4am till around 9am. Be very quiet and stealthy like your not even there. I use topwater till the sky starts to light up. At this time of twilight I use a rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crankbait in chartreuse. It dives 10' and I make the longest cast I can parallel to the weedlines in the open channel I can. One it dives I reel slow and steady. This starts off my throwing of my ritual of baits sizes and colors till I get action. The smaller rebel craw lures work awesome in rivers. Evening fishing from 5pm till dark(9pm). I find a range of bass sizes from 1lb to 6lb. Nothing really big just average for my state. To get away from some crowded places with people crashing the water using saltwater setups I started fishing in the early morning darkness. I do find these larger bass are tuned into there surroundings and wired for sound. The least little noise we can make spooks them. So no noise at all will pay off. I use spinning reels and close the bail by hand so there is no click. Be very quiet. Be flexible, with lure sizes. Remember chartreuse is your friend when nothing else works. This tells me we can have multiple water conditions at different depths. I'm no pro or will ever be one I love bass fishing. Ok here we go. Big bait = big bass. I was throwing a memos Anglia #3 and after a frenzy bite slowed down with smaller bass after bass action I put on a mepps #4 Anglia and caught a bigger bass. This told me the bigger bass can be lure size finicky. Be flexible throw every size and color till you find a nitch. Don't give up when the bite shuts down. Make that change.

I found these new glide baits that's sweeping the west coast. I see these on eBay and priced between $13/$100? I stand corrected the Roman big glide lure is $424 your kidding me right? The presentation is slow so it glides in the water. What do you guys think of them? Ya or na? Bigbill Is the glide a new presentation that can be done with any slow sinking swim bait? A split shot rigged worm from the '60's still works today. The bass haven't changed and gone hi-tech yet. That 6" creme black worm has probably caught more bass to this day than all the lures added up today. The black creme 6" worm is to fishing what the 30-30 rifle is to deer hunting.

It's all about the condition, how much your willing to pay and how bad you want it. Then there is the pre model numbered revolvers and the per war and post war then the pre magnum, registered magnum, the pre 357 magnum which is a 38/44 heavy duty or outdoorsman model. Then thanks to Elmer Keith and Bill Jordan and a few others pushing the limits the 357 magnum, the 44 magnum and 41 magnum came about the rest is handgun hunting history. I went looking for a shooter/beater 1911 to take bass fishing at night. I looked at the new Kahr Auto- Ordnance Army WW 2 copy 1911a1. This is one of the closest clones to the real army 1911 as I'll ever get. Right out of the box this made in Wooster, Mass in the USA was flawless in cycling, functioning for over 500 rounds now. At the time this was only $389 when it was first offered. My only regret is I didn't buy two and it's better than the shooter/truck gun I was looking for. The AO has 4140 casted frame. The 4140 is a good tough steel. The new AO in the park finish is awesome. Now at the time my dealer had the new Springfield Armory USGI-MIL SPEC as it was called back then. I was torn between this one and the new AO. It was only $424 at the time. I passed on this one but wanted it too. I went back a week later and purchased it too. It was flawless in operation too. But it's made in Brazil. But it's a good 1911 too. The SA 1911 have a steel forged frame and slide. Both are mid priced affordable 1911a1 that function the way a 1911 should right out of the box. To me this proves you don't need a high dollar 1911 to have one that functions properly. For a basic no frills, no bells or whistles, functioning new 1911 that won't break the piggy bank either one will do. Now a step up from these is the Kahr Thompson Custom 1911 in stainless. She comes with all the bells and whistles for around $800. She's a Purdy one. The Thompon people still offer the Thompson machine gun. There's a lot of 1911's to look at and consider. The price range goes from under $400 to $3,000++. I'm sure you can find one you will enjoy that fits your budget.

I put snaps on the lures with only eyelets. It's very hard to put the snap swivels on these shorter or lure body blocked eyelets. I have a hard time tying line in the light let alone in the dark so I use the locking snap swivels only. On my topwater and crankbait setups I use the ball bearing locking snap swivels on the rest of my rod setups I use the cheaper locking snap swivels where the smoothness of the action doesn't matter. It takes me lots of time to tie a line when I get frustrated. I can't see the line or loops that good. You will see what I'm saying when you grow old too. I need things to help me switch baits faster.

Both...I purchase new gear and equipment at the end of each year. I purchase new baits all summer.

I use nothing but a mister twister 4" split double tail grub as a trailer with a trailer hook. Color? Match the skirt color. For smaller spinner baits like 1/8oz I trim the body to fit the spinner bait hook. Note, if your fishing from shore I find the spinnerbaits work better if there smaller and using a side cast. These small ponds have spooky fish that are tuned into there quiet environment.

Look for discounted lures at Wal-Mart and your mom and pop bait shops. Mine was a flat not glossy orange colored spook. I caught as after bass one morning. I'm thinking people let there goldfish go in this pond and the bass are ready.

I use a c-rig 1/8oz brass bullet weight with a clicker. A 24" leader with a 3/0 needless eagle claw hook with a senko, or brushog, or worm. The weedless spring on the hook let's me know if I get a strike and a miss. If it comes up open I know I had a strike. I reset the hook and add a shot of bass scent. The next cast is a hookup for sure. The split shot rig with a plastic worm is a very successful setup too. I like to use the 6" black worm.
